Ok you iphoners! I have a domain name
www.iphoners.net
which I want to sell. Don't you think it would make a very ideal iphoners forum for such as gadget loving you? The domain is registered with godaddy. Go ahead and make me an offer I cannot refuse and I will transfer it to you.

'iPhone is available at Orange locations across Kenya. Which means there's probably one near you.'

The chinesse have had their own version of the iphone in the market for along time now. i got one for abt 17k ksh and it wasnt even top of range but had all those unnecessary features and more.
what apple are selling is just the brand name otherwise all those features are one click away at alibaba.com for quarter the price

If - as Apple claim - the iPhone will be available in Kenya via Orange then Orange (better known as Telkom in Kenya) will be selling the 8Gb iPhone at around $238 a la the TKL way. I can't see Orange giving up 100% profit after the TKL staff that haven't been bumped convince them that us docile folk will pay the premium without complaint.
If the 'Orange' way were to be felt then surely by now everyone would be talking about the revolution Orange had brought (pun intended). Instead I haven't heard one positive thing come out of the new Orange management at TKL other than the fact that they want to go GSM rather than CDMA (and further reduce our calling tariffs - I can't wait for that price war in a few months when 4 networks are competing for my sumunis).
I hope I'm proved wrong. I'd really love that gadget but only at fair market value.
For all the naysayers - apart from a plethora of added improvements the iPhone 3G has wifi and push email which makes it a very cool alternative to the Blackberry - but at a cheaper price. As for using it for Internet access with a laptop - what can I say,... next year when the submarine cable is here we should have very affordable Internet access from our ISPs that'll make always on broadband in the home affordable and computer access to the Internet via phone a redundant thing of the past. With broadband at the workplace and broadband at home you can then use your iPhone for fast Internet access in those delayed transition situations like traffic jams.
Just hope the fast Internet thing goes that way and not the West African way - prices there have hardly budged as unscrupulous Internet businesses and the gava fleece the public.
@redice - if Orange sells at inflated prices we'll need your contact details.

and not to mention a network without 3g for the next year or so...
