@susu...not always in accounting there is what we call depreciation or amortization
not everything bought under the sun will fetch higher prices in 5 yrs...that is a limited scope of investing... buy a car @ 2m today sell it to me at @ 2.000000001m in 3 yrs time ! hell no. not all stocks' prices appreciates with time. even when inflation is factored in.. walmart,uchumi and others its merely inflation impact........
investing is more interesting when its business like.... i dont know what he ment i mean warren buffet or was it fetched from benjamin graham...

@ecstacy. seems we are reading from same script......capital gains better than dividends yes KQ is also a bargain ...but should run away from forwards,options and futures contract lest expect more problems. these things are still complicated for our folks @ kq
But ecstacy is there a difference btn a diffence btn a growith stock and a capital gain stock come clean..........

It's all in the reason for the expected rise...my view seeks to differentiate a share price rise resulting from KQ simply bouncing back from 'gross undervaluation' in the context of hedging factors...as compared to a company in an actual growth phase...the share prices will both rise but for very different reasons...

@bruno,

On why the three (HFCK,ACESS,EQ) ; I understand the housing market is explosive and demand will continue once the financial crisis passes,but,is HFCK capable of taking advantage of it? (Read management) never been impressed by them,maybe,Equity can inject better management.

ACCESS,I agree,only we need visionaries at the gov. infrastructure end to bring stuff like WIMAX to ALL Nairobi Metros (all the way to Athi River,Thika,Ngong,Ndumberi,Limuru...),that perhaps is the most direct way to bring Internet universally to Nairobi & Metro,ACCESS could be partners in such projects... even if we grind our way towards broadband access,ACCESS is still well positioned,they jut need to be resourceful and embark on strategic projects… agree on that one.

On EQ,I don’t know much about banking,but,they do have a very sharp CEO ... EQ seem to have gone up quite a bit,I sort of liked NBK before it went up from mid twenties ... my order at 25 never got filled... for some reason,I had KCB,Barclays,NBK as better investments than EQ,I thought they had more elbow room to pop
