VERY SAD....but i must admit Kenya Pipeline has one of the best fire response team after what they went through years back at their Embakasi depot.....sadly and unluckily so,it's our government's response to disaster and preparedness which is too wanting...a prayer for the victims.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

People still risk their lives to syphon fuel from pipelines, tankers, etc. People still die on top of kenya power transformers trying to steal transformer oil without learning from previous tragedies. Next it will be "Tunaomba serikali iingilie kati ......."

Pole to the bereaved families and quick recovery to the injured.

members of the inter-ministerial committee formed to work out the resettlement of the slum must still be earning sitting allowances. They will another task force after this. I hope they don't erect a monument for the fuel thieves

Interesting article written on 2nd February 2009. The residents (Mukuru Sinai dwellers)knew its a tragedy in waiting but ignored. Interesting the way the writter begins the script too....

Very sad story. I pray one day that leeways in Nairobi will be respected. KPLC had a fire also in Mukuru when the MPig then came out with the famous slogan 'Mukiwaona hao, weka...'. People died. We have regulation but impunity permeates our society.

In the meantime, I have just filled up my fuel tank. Expect some disruption for various resons. IO had there were enough accidents at the collection point as drivers tried to drive off to safety.

The residents of Kibera and others on the railways line have received numerous eviction notices but alas.It is time some form of rules were followed. I was disgusted today to see numerous police officers on Thika road stopping matatus that are flaunting rules. Disgusted because it is ONLY happening because of the Meru deaths last week and it will not continue for more than a week because of our "short memories"

My condolences to the bereaved families and quick recovery to the injured, a very sad day for kenya indeed!!!!.....coming just two days after the Zanzibar tragedy, all could have been prevented, how sad!~!

The sad part is people have lost loved ones. There is someone who has barely survived, all their certificates have been burnt, all their household belongings, their IDs everything. They are now a nobody yet living. How does such a person get up again?

Someone needs to pay for this negligence. I believe the PC,Dc and all those people who had the responsibility ad capacity to ensure that the law is followed need to be made accountable. I am not saying they are guilty but they must show Kenyans how they executed their mandate reasonably.

Sober - what am saying is that you will hear the usual line from the govt about paying for funeral expenses yet they should be holding someone or somepeople responsible.
