Some of us are such hypocrites, crying corruption one minute and singing praises of the corrupt the next.

Actually @vvs there is such a rule that the chairman and chief executive shouldn't be the same person, I'm just not sure it relates to banks only.

If you recall KCB had major governance issues when they had executive chairmen - Kaminchia et al and CMA introduced the rule to sort out the mess.

Then I have no idea where the issue is... Why hasn't CMA said anything?

Hah... The question is as an existing shareholder (post-2003) of KK have I benefited from biwott? The answer is NO.

Kenol was listed, audited & in existence for donkey's years. Kobil belonged 100% to Biwott. Eventually, Kenol bought Kobil - so biwott was paid off by 'existing' shareholders. For all I care Kobil could have been sold to Hass or Hashi or even Gulf.

Every Kenyan had a chance to buy into Kenol post-2003 (just like I did) so it is hypocritical to claim I benefited from Kenol any more than the Kenyan next to me. After 2002 (or even earlier) biwott's influence in government had disappeared. In 2003 (when I first dipped my foot in Kenol) biwott was out of power, out of the mainstream.

If anything, GoK should go after the SHARES that biwott owns not KK thus owning a part of KK which it can sell to recover cash. Common in other countries where assets are recovered from crooks.

Perhaps, who knows in the future we may see TransCentury as a prosperous firm but with the Shareholders forking out shares to GoK to atone (buy forgiveness) for their sins?

The very SAME individual has no issues being a holder of KK yet JS is both Group Chair AND CEO. Nkt!

The chap is right.
CMA wants an INDEPENDENT Chairman NOT related (or appointed by) to any of the Majority/Large/Influential Shareholders so no-one from the government or its entities.

KK - Segman is an employee not related to any of the large shareholders per CMA's rules (as I understand them). I am sure if the CEO & Chairman posts could not be combined the CMA would have come out & said so.

'Total Man' is all I can say. Let's not pretend, making money has never known ethics

@ycsun these two guys esp.@VVS would be more successful heading advocacy and picket NGOs. Leave them alone.
