Hey Wazuans i am introducing a very different Topic but also important. Is anyone there who is a believer and whose faith is tied with Christianity? if so can we share our views, questions and answers, and encouragements through this site. Is someone out there who is aware of a prophet in the land whose messages is totally different from our own pastors and Bishops? what is your views about these?

Talking of prophets, do we still have prophets today? If my CRE is anything to go by, I thought we were taught that there will be no other prophets.

I am not saying this with authority of the Word. Reading from Rev 22:18-19, there is no one who can add to what is said in the Bible. There are no modern-day prophets who can be compared to the Old Testament prophets; God could reveal Himself to them and talk to them His will. Most of the prophets talked of the Savior to the world (read Jesus Christ). Since He has come and died on teh cross for our atonement of sins, there was no other major prophecy. John the apostle, in the garden of Patmos prophesied about the last days. The argument, therefore, if there is any prophecy to be made, it is that of repentance, which is what is preached in the pulpit. Is this prophecy? If anyone in this forum can shed more light on this, I will also be grateful.

There can only be false prophets! And thou shall not jugde. The opposite of courage is not cowardice, it's conformity.

there are guys who would look at you and know what or where you are headed.. thats prophecy...
and in the Bible there are guys who didnt prophecy entirely about Jesus.. they talked of things that would happen to the Jews in the 'near future' like excile to babylon annihilation of Samaria.. etc

Read Ephesians 4:11 onwards, also read 1st Cor 12:4-11,27-31. Prophecy still exists. Yes, maybe modern-day prophets may not be compared to Old Testament ones, but that doesnt mean they dont exist. Are you asking are there still profits after the global financial crisis? Yes I still think that there's a great deal of profits to be made... or...
Do you mean is there anyone out there telling people to stop listening to foolish talk, false prophecy, and "theologians" books, and to just READ their bibles and follow what it says, and not what men say?
Uhhh.....
Doubtful.
It's funny how everything seems to fall apart right around Deuteronomy, where no one in existence today seems to follow the bible's instructions on how tithing and interest works ;)
But God's word still stands. But will we?
Best,
Hill

Best,
Hill good question...as a christian i am weary of its commercialization however i am comforted by the words of Paul when he asked the corinthians to 'follow him as he followed christ' keyword - follow christ, watu wengi watanoa because in following their bishops/pastors they lost sight of Christ. Jesus Christ himself said people will go to hell if they did not 'clothe, feed and quench the thirst of the poor, look after the sick, and visit the prisoners' All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

To prophesy is to speak of the future. Is there still a future?...then there remains a prophet. The Lord, the God of their ancestors, repeatedly sent his prophets to warn them, for he had compassion on his people and his Temple. But the people mocked these messengers of God and despised their words. (2 Chronicles 36:15-16) This remains as true today, now, here on Wazua as it was thousands of years ago. “Listen to me, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Believe in the Lord your God, and you will be able to stand firm. Believe in his prophets, and you will succeed.” (2 Chronicles 20:20) @kibish, @onmywaytowealth... Check out this link. http://www.biblegateway.com Fantastic resource! Search the keyword "prophecy". The result is what the bible says about prophecy from genesis to revelation in 24 different Bible versions. Hope that helps. Ok here's the challenge. If there is a prophet out there right now, find him, and then get his message in one paragraph. Take that paragraph, and compare it to the bible to make sure that it isn't contradictory, and then to make sure that it's really something that is foretelling. Ask for dates and times.
Basically, just like the guy that caused (and continues to cause) many deaths in TZ with his "magic juice" that did nothing except get people killed while trying to get to it, and stop people from taking their ARVs an other medicines, people need to be held accountable for the power that they wield when they call themselves "prophets".
People didn't even bother to ask why he couldn't take the magic juice on tour. Didn't the gospel spread all over the world? Must I go to Jerusalem to be saved? No, but I MUST travel to TZ to get magic juice? Absolutely absurd.
WHERE ARE THE RESULTS?
Otherwise, any fool with a microphone and someone dumb enough to follow them can sprout up as many religions and sub-religious cults as they wish, adding to the already high level of confusion out there, detracting us all from success.
This isn't as much about "prophesy" and "salvation" as it is about people wanting to take the easy, lazy way out and put the responsibility of the faith and dedication to God in the hands of someone else, a fool, and thinking erroneously that God won't hold them accountable for not seeking God directly, for themselves. They also lack faith because they must SEE a man and TOUCH a man, because they lack the faith to believe in what they cannot see. And they eventually start worshiping the MAN, not the man's creator.
We all have bibles. Read it. Follow it. If you are confused, read it again and pray for understanding. Leave it up to another MAN, a HUMAN that puts his trousers on one leg at a time, just like you do, and, well, good luck with that.
No man has a heaven or a hell to put me in, but I sure can end up in hell following some "dude" with a Shina microphone and machine-sewn robe right on down there.
Best,
Hill

The measure of a prophet is his prophecy happening-In Kenya David Owuor probably is a prophet. But I found one of his prophecies misleading. In 2006, he claimed that God had told him that a major earthquake would hit Kenya because of sin in the country and that buildings in Nairobi would collapse. This was broadcast on Hope Fm. He further claimed that God would not forgive us even if we repented. The quake never happened though there were minor tremors which made some to start following him. I have heard him claim that he predicted the tsunami, the haiti quake and 07 violence. However, i heard the claims after the actual events occured. I dont want to dismiss him yet, but I would like to know what prophecy he has for 2012 NOW instead of waiting for next yr after the events occur

Quote:1 Corinthians 14 >> New International Version
Gifts of Prophecy and Tongues
1Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2For anyone who speaks in a tonguea does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.b 3But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. 4He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. 5I would like every one of you to speak in tongues,c but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues,d unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified. Prophets do exist ,their function is not to add scripture but to bring forth a specific word for the moment. The Holy Spirit illuminates particular Scriptures for application that are confirmed in our daily walk with the Lord through such people. However the verses above shows we should all prophesy!

@ ![Laughing out loudly](/Images/Emoticons/msp_lol.gif) thats a very wise observation about this prophet Dr awuor in as much as he has prophesied and gave so many teachings concerning the times the church is sitted now and the rapture of the holy church its worth not to dismiss his words. Take time to follow a site this prophet posts his prophesis as soon as he releases; www.jesusislordradio.org . i have been so keen on what he speaks and i have taken time to search the bible and am convinced that he is a true prophet sent by God. one thing to note though is that a prophecy has no time line as to when it happens it can happen instantly in a matter of hours like the Us Hurricane irene or a time that God decides to.As to the kenyan case as far as i know its still pending subject to a national repentance called by this prophet. Now Acts17:30 says that in the past God overlooked such ignorance but now he has commanded every one to repent and turn away from sin, what we observe in kenya for instance today is a very different gospel being preached that of prosperity and money check out in any media prodcast or in our churches, This is not bad but the most important subject is to lead xtians to heaven the sherpeds have not warned the sheep about the implications of leading a sinful-christian life that is sin such as sexual sin has not been condemed at all. For any one who wants to see heaven has to walk in absolute holliness and righteousness as our lord Jesus. its zero tolerance to sin that will lead us to the father. What do we see in the news lately; floods, famine, earthquakes, wars and rumors , check out this things in Mathew 24:1, mark 13:1 and luke 21:1 and the revelation given in revelation 6:1-7

Lolest! wrote:Prophets are tested by their prophecies happening. Deut 18:21,22 Absolutely, as simple as this. If any one thing they prophesied out of a thousand did not happen, then they are definitely not from God even if the other 999 happened. And we should know their prophecies well in advance, otherwise the clever ones will claim credit for events past and there will be no way of catching them.
