Yesterday, my son was in class and the teacher taught.

Today I took him to school only to find no teachers. Had to return him home until further notice.

It appears you do not have children.

Yesterday I took him to school. As he entered classroom I saw the teacher inside [luckily, I have a good view of the classroom from the dropping point]. Other children were hovering around as is usual in the morning.

In the evening when I got home I asked him the usual question "how was school today?" He gave the usual answer: "fine".

"Have you done your home work?"

"Yes"

"What subject?"

"English"

"Can I see"

I checked it, and it was the usual length. Then asked whether the teacher was in all day and he said yes..."no tutinathoma indo nyingi" {but we didn't learn many subjects}

For me that was enough confirmation that normal teaching was done since yesterday was the first day for them.

They have a point in pushing the government to employ more teachers permanently ..BUT
while the strike lasts, let them attend refresher courses if the word MISCELLANEOUS is too complicated for them to spell..

I saw that too, and it was quite embarrassing Sad
Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

For the record, I support the teacher's strike; sad that it affects children but I support it.

Why can't the government just hire more than enough teachers? It seems to cost much less than Kes 47b assigned to military (who can't even defend Migingo), and negligible per head as compared to MPs taxes (also sorted out).

Free Primary Education is the most significant contribution to Kenya society, in the same stature as new constitution in the last decade. How can it be genuine if they are not teachers? It's the teachers - stupid.
