as @ hisah will tell you mumias has done a very nice bull trap . and as it continues to go down guys will start covering their losses and thus accelerate the fall.

For Sport,
Farmers got their wish...Cane prices up from 3400 to 4185.....Massive increment. That should make cane farming very lucrative.I must think that it's MSC's way of crushing the smaller sugar firms. At that price, they will never break even and they may have to close shop....or is it a bid for hostile take overs?...Some serious buy outs?....mmmmmh!

@ the deal,
Stop painingLaughing out loudly ...it's at 5.80 with no hope of bouncing back.January here we comesmile Pray

The sale of land at Nasewa in Busia County by Mumias Sugar Company is illegal, the Ministry of Agriculture has said.

The ministry said the 841-acre piece of land in Nambale is Government property.

The State is now working with the Kenya Sugar Board (KSB) to find an investor to build a sugar factory on the disputed land.
“We do not understand how the land was sold as the ministry was kept in the dark,” said the Western Provincial Director of Agriculture, John Cheruiyot.

I'm stuck in this counter at average ksh 14.15. Never exercised my stop loss percentage of 17% assuming things would get better. I pray the extension will enable me break even.

I had a discussion with a director of one of the private sugar companies. His take is that the removal of the comesa sugar safeguards will be inconsequential. Kenya is a sugar deficit country and even the surplus comesa sugar will not be enough. Meanwhile the main sugar producing countries like brazil are diverting sugar to ethanol.

"Meanwhile, raw sugar futures ended 2011 as one of the weakest performing commodities of the year on the Thomson Reuters-Jefferies CRB index, tumbling 27.5 percent on investor liquidation and increased supplies.

ICE benchmark raw sugar futures closed the day lower on investor selling and book-squaring on the last trading day of 2011, pressured by big crops in the EU, Russia, Ukraine, India and Thailand."

Yikes... so without 'safeguards' Mumias is in big doo doo...
