zar is a beast man..hit 7.5 juzi now at 7.1! thing about ZAR is that yield hunters were caught offguard, now looks like the damage is over? ama where do you see it?

@8.20 before the next storm is over! I'll be picking it @6.6 - 6.8 levels. I expect the JSE to nosedive in Q4.

Picked some long USDZAR @6.98 to test momentum up to 7.40 - though didn't update this on the fx thread. Wish I had picked a larger chunk, but was waiting for 6.8 - I think this won't be breached anytime soon. If the dollar squeeze comes around as expected, I expect the 8.20 target to be exceeded. The recent SA econ data was slack & playing as per my expectations, though the market was as usual, surprised smile

While the SAME guy feeds us useless personal opinion polls on the Governors looks; the discount rate is @9.25% meaning the interbank is much lower. That's effective policy.

USDZAR touches 7.48, now @7.45. Bullish from here. My target was 7.40 short term, but well exceeded. I still expect the 8.0 handle to be broken. Alykhan's target is 7.90.

@kizee1 - I hope you took positions when I hinted about the rand rotation... smile

USDZAR breaks above 8.00 handle. 8.20 coming up.

@Kizee1 - I wish you had picked this up & ride this rand rotation smile Q4 2011 to Q3 2012 will be funkie for SA econ as the world cup stimulus runs out... Cheat economics always comes round to bite when least expected. Study Sydney 2000, Athens 2004 & Beijing 2008 olympics and find out what 2014 will unleash after London 2012 olympics smile

Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly the SA world cup was one classic investment hype hoax! Led to an over-flux investment in hotel rooms and post world cup, no significant repeat biz was recorded. Now a stronger ZAR has made it an expensive tourist destination Sad Even our pan-african Mpango Wa Kando/Lodgo racket terminated all its leases (2) and pulled out of SA. www.africansuninvestor.com
