Does the Kenyan law allows a single man to adopt? i thought not. Or did it change?

Surprisingly the law allows.
But single foreign men cannot adopt

I don't find it surprising!

nesta, that is a good path. Just ensure you eat the full hog i.e go for all counselling, interviews etc etc. Those guys will give you a better opinion if it is good for you to adopt. It takes a while, but you get to know what you are getting into. As said earlier, kids can be a handfull but they are the very essence of living. The agre bracket you are talking of is the best. The time whne you actually start enjoying them.

@all, in Kenya today, there are very few boys being adopted as compared to girls. This is due to the attitudes like have been spelt out in this forum and the law that does not allow a woman ( who adopt more) to adopt a boy. So the boys in the orphanages grow up to be men.

@nesta.... It has been my dream since college to adopt a kid. By the grace of God I will. So tuko wengi.

@ Nesta, This is a the right path for a good deed.
You may need to start the process now given the time it will take b4 approvals.
Don't touch relatives,it will kill the good spirit in you, even Jesus did not started His ministry Nyumbani.Your good intention may be misinterpreted.

I am looking for a child around 5 - 8 years. I have always dreamt of starting a children's home (that does not rely on donors.) However, since i don't have a lot of cash now, i think i can start with a one child and live with him in my house.

@Nesta, Is it an adoption ama you want to open a Children's home? It seems your mission is not to adopt as assumed here but rather have a place where abandoned & homeless Kids can come in and experience a family atmosphere. If this is case then the question here should be what does it take to open a Children's home in Kenya because adoption is quite different.
