@mukiha - Very true. The juice is always fresh. The samosas are always made leo. My barber has never said my hair looks OK.

@mycool I was not mislead. I'm too good reading in between the lines. James Mwangi of all people cannot agree to list a good company when there is a bear in the market unless he is running from the bear itself.

@Mukiha, I love your samosa analogy. Very funny though.

Now, does CMA or NSE or whatever body have a right to reject a kiosk or conman company from listing on the NSE? Because Eveready was surely a kiosk from day one.

Anyone?

I guess all investors should educate themselves on how to value individual stocks before calling thier stockbrokers with a buy or sell order. Personally i take responsibility for all the activities i engage in and i will never blame my stockbroker. I mean, its me who decides which stock to buy or which stock to sell, then i call the stockbroker and give him my wishes. The stock broker can make his recomendations but he is not forcing you to take action. Recomendations are only opinions and not commands So lets not blame our dear stockbrokers for executing our orders but should take full responsibility for the performance of our portfolios. As for me, I am not fearful at all by the current down trend, I am just buying shares and waiting for them to go up in three to five years. Its those who buy with hope of making instant profit who are crying now....

I bought Britak and I am not regretting. The decision was mine and I will not cry over spilt milk if it comes to that. I believe that one day Britak and all the downward bound shares will rise from the ashes even if it takes how many years. So lets not discourage each other otherwise some people especially new investors will retreat and surrender from stock investment. Cheers to all

anika66, what of the opportunity cost? Seems everything is a great buy for the ''long term'' nowadays.

I will not allow you to discourage me. For me long term means different period for different stocks. I have my target for each stock, as soon as i reach my target I sell and get my capital gain. I will not be forced to sell at a loss no matter what, even if i have to wait for how many years. I am also investing small amounts in order to take advantage of the downward trend as we do not know when the various stocks will reach their rocket bottom prices. So thats my strategy and I will not allow all you 'financial gurus' to discourage me. I am now reading many investment books and I am feeling 'okay'. By the way what is opportunity cost? Not that it will discourage me from doing what i plan to do in the next few weeks!

Every investor should take cognizance of the fact that the stock market is cyclical, bull, flat and bear.

It is up to the investor to develop requisite strategy to handle the cycles.
