Steve Jobs resigns - What next?

Letter from Steve Jobs, ex-CEO of Apple widely regarded as the world’s most innovative and valuable technology company.

To the Apple Board of Directors and the Apple Community:

I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come.

I hereby resign as CEO of Apple. I would like to serve, if the Board sees fit, as Chairman of the Board, director and Apple employee.

As far as my successor goes, I strongly recommend that we execute our succession plan and name Tim Cook as CEO of Apple.

I believe Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it. And I look forward to watching and contributing to its success in a new role.

I have made some of the best friends of my life at Apple, and I thank you all for the many years of being able to work alongside you.

@user - LOL! Stock tumbling 7%. Steve Jobs has been an important figure historically and maybe by remaining on the board he will continue to make contribution to Apple’s success and retain the immensely creative and professional team he attracted and inspired to Apple.

Why ask such an obvious question? Ati 'Steve Jobs resigns - What next?'

Of course his doctor will ask him to rest and eat two APPLES a day so that he can recover in double time. You know what they say, 'An APPLE a day keeps the doctor away' i.e. that's how doctors get rid of patients.

Boss, when the face of a company famed for leading world tech innovation leaves, nothing is obvious!! We are in the fifth phase of technological innovation likely ending in 2020 and he is one of the leading lights.

So what really motivated Jobs to make Apple what it's today... here's what the man had to say,

"Remembering that I'll be dead soon is
the most important tool I've ever
encountered to help me make the big
choices in life,"

Jobs said this during a
Stanford commencement ceremony in
2005.

"Because almost everything - all
external expectations, all pride, all fear
of embarrassment or failure - these
things just fall away in the face of
death, leaving only what is truly
important."
