Reminds me of Obi Okwonko in Chinua Achebe's "No Longer at Ease". During his job interview, the mzungu he was to replace asked him:
"Mr Okwonko, do you want this job so that you can collect bribes from scholarship applicants?"
Okwonko replied: "With all due respect, sir, even if that were my intention, you honestly expect me to say so!"
Or something to that effect.
Also reminds me of the question that people ask waiters at a restaurant: "Hizo samosa ni za leo?"
