@ Kafein - Days of cyber cafes are gone. There used to be a time once when people used to wait in order to get a computer to use,now this is no longer. The few cyber cafes which are still operational are always empty. Ever since mobile internet usage has increased people only need cyber cafes if they have to print something or scan something. Think once again before venturing into this business.

Thanks FUNKY,

was also feeling the same,nowadays guys are using mobile phones to access internet,only that i felt if combined with other services such as binding,printing,typing but in the estates rather than in town,it would make more sense.

but as you correctly put it its a business that requires a second thought.

Kafein I would personally advice you not to get into that business I think you should change the plan to some other kind of business
Reasons:I think a cyber will tie your hard earned cash for no good reason

@Kafein, cyber cafe on it's own is no longer a viable biz as it once used to be... unless u incorporate other services as u correctly pointed out, otherwise ata service ya photocopying pekee yake ina chapaa kuliko cyber siku izi.

@Kafein;

The revenue numbers have always puzzled me.

Typical rate is one bob per minute.

If you operate from 8am to 6pm that is 10hrs per day.

Or 600 minutes per day.

Or Sh600 per comp per day.

But the assumption that the comp will be occupied all the time is unreasonable.

You will probably get somewhere around 25% utilisation on a good day...

This makes it an average of Sh150 per comp per day.

Or Sh4,500 per comp per month.

Now, what are your fixed costs?

RENT =?

INTERNET =?

ELECTRICITY =?

Now ask yourself, how many computers do you need to break even?

How long will it take before you can achieve the optimum 25% utilisation? [you know, businesses take time to get known and get accepted by customers]

If you ask me, you are probably better off starting a photocopy bureau... then add one comp for typing services.

BUT REMEMBER: location, location, location!!! Don't just go for the cheapest one that you can get.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

@Kafein as a matter of factor location matters most i run a cyber cafe and the returns are great.

internet costs 6000 - 10000
licence 11000
3. challenges expected power cost plus mobile fone treats
Controls pc monitors its let up monitor what the users is doing on the pc
software for trcking revenue u will need a cyber pro good for management of cyber

mix the cyber with something else like a bookshop or an mpesa work greats
