here we go. which company would you nominate for the "Worst Corporate Responsibility" award?. Lets call them simply WCR Awards.

My choice is EABL.

Reason: I visited that area last weekend and the road section from the loading zone gate to Ngumba estate is in very bad state. Bumps which small vehicles cant climb are erected like 2 feet apart at the personnel entrance. My hosts indicated that EABL never cares and has never ever done anything on that section of the road except putting up bumps. The road is mostly damaged by the big lorries and the farmers who go to buy machicha for their animals from the same EABL. ABK!!!
When I have money, I get rid of it quickly, lest it find a way into my heart.

When making your decisions learn to investigate first before making any conclusions!
EABL has among the most finances directed towards CSRs. regarding the particular road, the bumps are erected to slow down the trucks and if they were to erect smaller bumps the trucks wouldnt feel anything as they zoom. The bumps are erected taking into consideration traffic even for small cars- ikiwa gari yako iko 6 inches clearance invest in spacers.
By the way there was proposals to re-route that particular road and even shorten the distance from thika road- plans which were superceded by the construction of thika road.

@nyangao... that kelele of yours is like you work there. And I will investigate further and report here. Actually will go back there this weekend and will post more findings come monday.

I'd give that award to Sarit Centre, given the truly pathetic state of roads around that mall, and the seemingly total lack of care/interest for them, unlike Nakumatt and Westgate.

To support this, you should see the condition of the public loos at Sarit...deplorable at best. But I think they're "renovating" them at last...

Its not a CSR to fix roads. The Govt should do the work. Afterall, EABL for example is one of the biggest Tax payers.

Infact it is illegal for a private entity to purport to make any road repairs or otherwise on a Govt road.

Blame it on Area Kanjora or MP for not higlighting the need for any particular road to be repaired or maintained and Not the respective corporates.

@nyangao....

went to that place yesterday jioni and the offending bumps have been removed!! The old good bumbs have been left intact and residents are happy. Lakini barabara yaendelea kuaribila na malori kubwa kubwa.

@nyangao... don't you think someone should be fired for misuse of those funds??

samakimfalme,

i dont work at eabl just did some kidogo stuff for them where i learnt of te plans to do the road. there was no funds set aside for the project by then so no money was lost. pole if i came out abit harsh.

it does not imply negligence

Nakumatt, Kahawa branch fixed the road leading to their branch from Thika road. almost 200 meters

they had closed down for renovation a while ago........sahi sa ground floor ni kama lounge ama are they called "powder rooms"
