Britain burns: Riots spread through UK cities

Sooner or later you will see the same thing in the US, as we don't own our homes either, the banks do, and now we are all broke and saddled with tremendous debt and bills- not just the country itself, but the people operate the same way... tremendous debt.
We have had our share or riots, though they usually don't go past one large city (the national guard will surround the rioting area and enforce a border), and usually just burn the poor areas down to make room for new high-cost developments.
The police, sheriffs, state police, national guard, et al will use real bullets against the people to enforce the border around the rioting, not water cannons, thus there is always a death toll. And whereas international media likes to actually give an accurate count of deaths in such situations, ours absolutely won't... makes stock prices go down to hear too much bad news.
That is if we can muster enough energy to get up off the couch and from behind our Hi Def TVs with 500 channels 24 hours a day, whilst being drugged by McDonalds and cheap pharmaceuticals, recycled water, and polluted air... nah, uh... ummm.... better just sit here on the couch and watch it on CNN. If I wanna "play" revolt I'll do it on XBox 360.

Bwenyewe/Njung’e-this actually has little to do with the guy that was shot (it sounds like he was executed) or stop and search, but simple socio-economics issues i.e. these young bloods see this as an opportunity to get 50 inch tvs; iphone; xbox games; fresh bacon and eggs from Tesco-things they can’t normally afford... You see, London is one of the richest cities in the world, but the nearest most these black youngsters of predominantly of Afro-Caribbean origin (Jamaican to you and me), will come to these riches is the weekly social welfare payment they get from gova and tv shows from their sitting room. Why? There are various reasons, but in my observation they boil down to culture and environment. Culturally, the Caribbeans are more akin to our folk in the coast i.e. people of raha. UK is quite meritocratic society which requires sweat, intense focus, good manners, education to succeed. Most carribeans are one-parents who don’t have the time to be role models or support their kids in succeeding. Many therefore grow up with basic knowledge; lack manners and even have a basic grasp of English. The environment also doesn’t suit them bcos the English is at heart a racist dating back to his day as a coloniser. The young black therefore lives a life of dreaming at what he should be having. These riots are great opportunity to amass some of these things... Sehemu ndio nyumba

Woow!.Thanks Maina.I get the picture.Let's just say this is what France went through some years back.The Brits better be real and look for a solution.Shipping out the "Carribeans" to where they came from would work? Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Good point @Mainat you have summed up the afro-carribean very well. However why do you think the black youths are suffering hence rioting?? Isn't it coz of poverty largely brought about by what you said and disenfranchised, this in my opinion is by and large fueled by institutions here. In Peckam/Hackney (Ziwani/Jericho equivalent) how many gambling outlets are there (every corner in every street) why is this? what about Hemstead,Hendon (Karen/Runda) why does the government not empower the youths?The youth fund has been scrapped, it's now summer holidays, there no jobs what do you want the inner city youth to do, the do admire like you said the 50 inch plasma Tv's and the latest games on PS-3 OR even the soon to be launched Iphone 5 but how is the big question and why this inequality has been allowed to thrive for so long??

But there's good news from Kibera. Over 28 young people have resolved to cooperate with other members of society in peace and love; and have dedicated themselves to work in order to improve their lives and society at large.
They will not look for donors. They have vowed to fight to their damnedest to secure a solid future for Kenya and Africa through saving and investment, in the spirit of love.

Mainat, Ricdees... Now I begin to get it. So are you guys saying that the riots are basically being done by the foreigners? Aren't the Brits part of the riots? All in all, Me thinks Capitalism has been so manipulated by a few individuals that it is now Collapsed. Really, why would a government borrow through T Bills from the public only to spend the money buying from a chosen few thus making them wealther. The worst part is it is consumption spending and so the government cannot repay. And while at it, those few individuals do NOT pay taxes. So they are not burdened! I would riot if it were me.. Do you guys think KEnya will encounter this very soon due to the Somali influx? I Think Therefore I Am

Njung'e-there is an increasing proportion of the pink hue who have gone black... In certain parts of the UK today, 3 generations (i.e. father, son and grandson) have survived on welfare. You'll find them in Hackney, Peckham and pretty much all the areas where folk have been doing "breakin shopping" over the last 3 nights. Most are able to do this night shopping (even at 4 am) bcos they are used to sleeping during the day. Ricdees-i don’t if u’ve ever interacted closely with the carribeans or even the poor pink hued folk, but most like playing the victim far too quickly in my opinion. From the day u r born in the UK, u know u r black. U can then decide that u will spend time in the casinos or in the library. I know of Nigerians/Ghanians who’ve grown from that environment and are now working with some of the largest banks in the world. Sehemu ndio nyumba
