I will get my $30 oil, just like I got my USDKES @90... And the shocking part for the KE is that fuel will still be expensive!? Why? That USDKES is going to zoom beyond 100/- so faling oil prices will be negated by a devalued exchange rate! Absolute nonsense from the KE central planners. When people will hit the streets properly, indeed they shall wake up or run away...

As for the currencies, I've been hedging via the swissie - CHF. I like the idea that they want to go back to the gold standard i.e. a gold backed franc. If I was to vote for a new reserve currency, the swissie takes it.

In the meantime big money is going into PM - precious metals (gold, silver, platinum) and commodity stocks like PM firms and agri commodities.

Thanks @hisah and i'll agree with U on the PMs and drop in crude (and resources) but hold reservations on the future of net importer countries ccys, like KES. Cheaper crude and resources in the globe should lead to less demand on forex hence strength? My presumption.

If KES becomes gold backed, I'll hoard it... In future we should have continental ccys to avoid forming another ponzinomics after this one collapses.

I see and just to add, we'll have a good harvest by Q4 and probable good rain to fill up hydro (though we'll still run thermal coz of demand). Let's see.

A look at lame stream media headlines after a rocky week for global stocks capped by a dramatic US debt downgrade: -

Xinhua wrote:

The U.S. government has to come to terms with the painful fact that the good old days when it could just borrow its way out of messes of its own making are finally gone," China's official Xinhua news agency said in a commentary.

So which is the 1st stock exchange to react to the US debt downgrade? House of Saud aka Saudi Arabia stock market (Tadawul All-Shares Index) tanks 5.46% for the day. In Arabia world, Saturday is a weekday remember...

Meanwhile in euro land, Germany is already growing cold feet in supporting Italy via the EFSF guarantee. I have a sneaky feeling France will get downgraded soon and that will see the euro drop like a rock... 2008 is back in fashion... caution!
