Affordable agricultural land anywhere in Kenya

now that food and its availability in kenya has become such big concern what is likely to be the situation in the next 10 years? where can one get a relatively affordable agricultural land either rain fed or irrigational?
what are the rates for any cheapest area in kenya assuming relatively good transport means for the produce?

want anything from 5 to 10 acres. a price from 50 to 100k per acre sio mbaya. thats why i dont care where n kenya it may be. it can as well be my vision 2025!

I believe you can get for such range. As late as late as early last year you could get arable land in parts of Nyandarua for 100k. But now the cheapest is around 160k. Keep looking, maybe youl get but in remote parts of western, ukambani or coast

160K an acre in Nyandarua?....Right now you'll be staring at over 250K an acre in Mawingo,Kirima Jiret and Salient area of Kipipiri or Gwa Kung'u (Leshau Karai) in Ndaragwa.I would consider this the cheapest in Nyandarua otherwise the better parts of Leshau,Shamatta,Oljororok,OlKalou,Engineer,Geta,Njabini,land is above 300K an acre.

@Tupac, Good idea. Have you considered going to the semi arid areas, sink bore hole, quick harvest and ready market throughout. I bet you will get land with less than shs10,000/acre and your vision 2025 will be fulfilled in 2 years.

A few KMs from Konza to the interior, you can get at between 50-100K. Looks interior but ICT city, devolution and talk of road linking Kajiado/Isinya will open up area very fast.
Went there in April and liked the area i.e. soil, vegetation etc A broke I know purchased 25 acres at 55K/acre last September and many Nairobians flocking there. Problem is the road.

i have no problem buying as cheap as the above price.in any case am in no hurry to develop the land. its a good idea to acquire the land and have it wait for money to sink borehole/develop it. one good thing with and is that it will always appreciate.

Comparatively,Karunga is in the fairer league (I am not saying you are small moneysmile ) and that's why the price comes close to Salient scheme.With water,you can challenge many other sorrounding areas which rely on rain.....one advantage you will have is cheap building material.Damn cheap.

Land in Kenya has become such a big issue. I went to Noro Moru last year on a fact finding mission. Despite the fellaz not using it for anything, the minute they see Nairobi "investor" prices hit the roof. Same with Namanga. I think the Konza prices sound just right.

May be GoK should think of changing land tenurehip system so that those with resources to produce food can get land at concessionary rates instead of some fellaz just having land that they dont use for anything.

@njunge, you mean the materials are low quality or one gets a bargain by buying those quarries? I avoided them coz my interest is farming.

Some friends of mine are looking for cheap land, in the regions of less than 90k PA. Any ideas where they can start their search? Proposed details;

1. Land less than 90k PA
2. Minimum acerage 40acres
3. Title not much issue though preferred
4. Intended project freelance livestock grazing (goats eating shrubs??😁)
5. If no good water source, idea is to sink solar powered borehole (experts available)
6. Multi ethinic friends so any area will do
7. Max distance from main accessible tarmac road 10kms

Ideas of probable areas are also welcome. In case of drawbacks to area also welcomed; they heard rumors of 30k PA land in Laikipia county past Rimuruti, though later learnt the area is prone to Raiders from Samburu(??) county.

Glad kujua @guka is doing well in the slopes of Aberdare piece of land above!

I recently traveled to Oloitoktok and could not stop getting amazed by the agriculture being done along the route......maize grows extremely well around the region. All the way from Emali...its good for agriculture, though naskia in Oloitoktok there is theft of cash crops during almost their harvest times by the locals!!
