Allow me draw a co-relation in that if NMG experienced such sterling growth in digital media, then Scan, the media agent, through Squad Digital must be doing well too!!

The leap of the profit into the billion bracket is a great archievement and that is why i am impressed.
I now understand why they insisted on PBT and not post tax.

Iam fully with you on this @sober.the performance of NMG over the years has been progressive.
Analysis of publiishing conglomorate like NMG is a different ball game from baking or other stocks.
25% PBT is impressesive. It is one of my long term stocks in NSE.
I only thought they should deviate from 1.50 bob interim to something like 1.75 or 2.00 bob.

I am sure they will even do better as we are approaching the election year.

Election years are very profitable but the problem is the inflation after the elections since incumbents print cash like it's toilet paper.

In Kenya, the current inflation going INTO the election year is 15%... what will it be after the election?

eps growth out-performing inflation should be good enough for investors.

A good performance as it is during a high inflationary period when most companies apart from our kawaida one (safcom) reduce their advertising expenditure significantly. Many small advert agencies are having it rough in this economic environment.

I would like to see the segment reporting. But then again IFRS says that if a segment brings in less than 10% it doesn't get reported. Also companies have no obligation to report segments in their quarterly/half year reports, unless the directors mention it in their notes.

@cde true scan is too expensive fundamentally but its future prospects just defies fundamentals.

I concur..SNG has lacked shareholder reward for all the years i've been in this NSE biz and they still don't appear willing!!

No love loss though...made my 160%+ and a couple dividends to boot smile I testify Scan is a rewarding company and with WPP Group (The mother of most global agencies) as no.1 share-holder...that gaurantees Scan a pipeline of serious clients.

Scan being the most dominant Media Agent means that they r the bulk feeder of the Media Owners (Radio,NMG,CITIZEN,SNG e.t.c). Always keep that in mind.

Nation Media Group (NMG) is a blue chip and this set of results confirms that, turnover increased by 15% to stand at Sh5.1 Billion, PBT cracked the Sh1 Billion mark; net profit margins improved by 2% to stand at a healthy 14.5%, despite management being pessimistic about 2H due to high inflation, drought and depreciating regional currencies I believe the 2H will be stronger than the 1H reasons being the company plans to launch a new radio station in Rwanda, I expect NTV Kenya to tape in more eye balls due to interactive programmes such as PM Live and increased local content, Nation Digital can only grow due to innovative products such as the Nation Electronic Paper and Nation mobile.
