I am not Alfred Mutua's fan but the press grossly misrepresented his statement about the drought/hunger/starvation in Kenya. I watched the full unedited clip and it's totally different from what the press had us believe. He was quoted out of context.
The guy was not trying to say that there were no deaths occasioned by starvation. He was saying that the government does not have the official figures and he was appealing to the press, NGOs, health workers etc. to provide information on the confirmed deaths so that the government can investigate and hold people into account!
No that I am saying anything new but we have a
bure kabisa press. They just wanted to attack Mutua or further their own agendas. Imagine saying something like "Those who don't believe, say there is no God." and in the evening news they bring a clip of you saying "There is no God."!!!
