If u are thinking of getting your son's or daughter's birth certificate please make sure u have something from sh.1500 in your pocket. The 'ONE DAY RULE' doesn't apply, so don't imagine u will fill the forms and go home with the birth certificate. Another thing, don't follow the laid down procedure of filling forms and waiting and expect to go anywhere: your filled form will always get lost when u go back the day u were told to return to their offices until u realise what u are supposed to do(give a bribe). There's another informal corrupt channel to follow: just give your documents and filled form to a broker/middleman plus a sh.1500 and above bribe and leave everything to him. Don't forget to be very careful and also learn to tell a conman from a broker. THAT'S THE KENYA WE LIVE IN.

I beg to differ.
I agree the one day rule does not apply but i got mine within two weeks.
I filled out the forms, i was asked to return after a week, i returned after about 10 days, early in the morning.. I was told to wait, i waiiited till about 11.30 and got mine.

The problem is that most people go when they are hard pressed with time-the document is needed for something.. Go collect the birth cert when you have ample time. When you bribe the difference between you and the sheria house employee is the same... Let's stop feeding these mongrels!
....above all, to stand.

Well! That and the problem i hear people say exist at the lands ministry is enough to scare every kenyan or at least this one angry guy(me) that has a child and wants to buy land to build a home for his/her family. If i could get alot of dough i'd relocate to another country where things are much easier and am hoping that too, wouldn't be made difficult by a few kenyans who are corrupt to their bone narrows and are also not willing to do their jobs. Why would i say, I AM PROUD TO BE KENYAN? Give me a reason now.

I agree - starve the beast. I remember acting daft when it looked like someone wanted to get bribed, raising my voice a lot, asking for clear directions / guidance on the process e.g. asking what it is I'm waiting for, who is supposed to do it, can they be reached on phone or cant someone else do it etc.
Its your country - demand for services.
The problem is that we're the same people who keep feeding the beast and then complaining about how things cant done unless you pay a bribe.

I haven't gotten my son's birth certificate so i haven't given a bribe and thus i haven't fed the mongrels. That's why i am venting my anger here.

At this rate we will be asking for a bribe just to give directions to someone who can't find his way to somewhere. If he doesn't give the bribe we would just lead him to the opposite direction just so he knows nothing is for free in kenya.

Time to be a drama 'King' when you next show up.. By Ample time i meant like a day off... Just go sit there until they get fed up. Give the 'Nitangonjea' line .. They get fed up coz you are seeing them take bribes so they 'get rid' of you..

Then just walk into the boss's office-its on the opposite side-if no one will listen to you.

On a serious note, they are taking such complaints seriously. I am told there is an office you can take such matters to.

Wakikataa, write to Watchman.. And thanks for starving the beast!

@Ms Mkenya What's this complaint office and what is that boss's job title? I think the WATCHMAN idea is a good one since emails to their enquiry and complaints email addresses don't get thro'. It's like they block u and on purpose. Why give the email addresses to the public in the first place. Give me a reason to proudly say am kenyan.
