@Sasha,

I am hoping if the dog can crap properly,then it just might save its own life. May be the one's that can't crap properly make the most delicious curry!!!

I can get you one for Kshs.100 from ushago.. then follow Obi 's instruction.get it vaccinated .. give it the right food and get a good vet check it......why pay 20k for a dog..This one I see you have a great mama....She cares financiallywise...Not Sukuma type

@Magigi - first - the one's MrTea refers to are Japanese Spitz - these are more of lap dogs - they are not serious 'guy dogs' as in Alsatians,labs,Dobermans,etc. They are the 'yip yip' kind you want for ornamental purposes (or the ones that you want to put in a microwave so they can shut up). Definitely not for a boy who you want to set on the 'straight' path in life. On that note,forget that Chihuahua someone has suggested as well.

Go for Sasha's friend's terrier - small but feisty - more grief than a lab IHMO. Something else you SHOULD consider (and something I HAVE done) - drop in by KSPCA - they have dogs,mostly mongrels,but EVERY once in a while they have pedigree stuff from expats who are moving on to countries that do not have 'extradition treaties' for dogs i.e. serious quarantine. I've seen labs (ready trained and just needing some TLC,etc),GSD's go VERY VERY fast - as fast as Datsun 1200 pickups. Still worth a try - go on Saturday - they close at 1300hrs - if you accept to adopt - all you pay is abt 3000 and you get vaccination history,etc. I have TWO such dogs and they are GOOD dogs. Only thing is that they will grill you abt where you stay - if its flats - FORGET it. if you have a semi-detached,fenced,with a small green patch - your chances are good.

Then with the remaining 27,000 you can buy dog food for abt 5 years...

@Magigi - PS to the below - if you try the KSPCA option - do not accept a dog that had been rehomed before - those are problem dogs - they look all nice and adorable (or even nice and kali) - but after a few days your sandals get chewed,big holes appear in the garden,laundry never stays on the line,etc - those are problem dogs that have either separation anxiety or other psychosis (for real).

@Djinn,LMAO,So all that dog psychology I was hearing when Obama was shopping for BO is true.

Growing up,we used to have a dog that when locked up it would just howl for the whole day and eat at the door,all we did was find new material to block the holes when they became too big. May be this dog was mad and we had no idea. We just thot it was being a dog.

@ magigi,

Get a GS,no need for training. Think of it like an investment.
