I didnt hear ICEA mentioned alot; and l cant open your link above. Any particular reason to be concerned about ICEA as an insured party?

There is plenty of reason for your concern.. Your insurance company does not treat you as well as jubilee can..

@ young - Kenya Re is a RE-Insurer and not an insurance company so you cannot compare the both.

Infact as a reinsurer, Kenya Re should have a much leaner structure (compared to Jubilee) and command better results qualitatively.

It would be interesting to find out how its staff numbers compare to those of Africa Re and ZEP Re.

Since Africa Re is not listed, it is not of much interest to me

@a-r-consult. KenyaRe ought to show us the benefits of the favour they've been enjoying via legislation where local companies r required to re-insure thro them.

Whoa! I didn't know this about JHL... This thing has defied my tanking expectations, I need it cheaper smile
@guru - since you are a fan of JHL can you tell them that their site is misbehaving with a lot of access errors. Their website admin needs to check on the numerous access errors and why TYPO3 is misbehaving... http://typo3.com/

This is a serious investment vehicle masquerading as an insurer. I have placed an audacious bid at ksh 150/-.

@hisah If we look at this years performance for Jub you will be astounded...

It closed the year 2010 at 180bob so if one had bought 1,000 shares on 31dec 2010 they would have been worth 180,000kshs at the close of 2010

During 2011 in May they issued a 1:10 bonus which means the shareholder with 1,000 shares now has 1,100 shares.

This means At todays price of 162bob this shareholder is worth 178,200kshs which is merely a 1% loss on his investment for 9months of 2011..

My point is that if it has gone the whole of 2011 without falling I dont see what will make it start today..

@guru - interesting. This defiance is similar to Total back in 2008-2009 panic central... I want to see between JHL and KK who will hold the title...

What are the odds that Jubilee will become like other fund managers who are reclassifying their bond portfolios from held for trading & available for sale to held to maturity so as to avoid write downs from the bonds to catalyse the write-downs on stocks...Guru over to you!

Speaking of Total, it's at 19 these days.
The beef I have with Jub is its illiquidity.
