If the new CEO is brilliant and brings back the company into profitability this share can improve.

Yes that is because the company has been having boardroom problems. Now they have a hired a new CEO who has over 20 years experience in the automobile industry.

First of all: they no longer hold the Peugeot franchise.

Secondly, this is not a place you want to put your money:

"Marshalls East Africa has hired a DT Dobie executive as its new CEO as it seeks to ideas to return to profitability after posting losses for four years in a row.

The auto dealer has hired Sanjiv Shah—the General Manager of Mercedes at DT Dobie—to take over from Rahul Sood on August 1, making him the sixth CEO in three years for the troubled auto dealer.

Infighting at the company’s boardroom pitting businessmen Kamlesh Pattni and Ketan Somaia as well as frequent changes of its executives have played a part in the motor dealer’s poor performance.

The divisions have hampered the firm’s ability to develop strategy and hire top talent in the increasingly competitive auto sector."

There is no guarantee he will last more than six months.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

I think ketan somaia is out & now only pattni. Not a ringing endorsement either way but hopefully it will roar again! An old & venerable name!

@ VituVingiSana - If the boardroom wrangles have been solved and KAMLESH PATTNI is on board then for sure it will start roaring sooner. We all know KP,he like to make money.

This KP guy is he not the same guy who is involved in corruption scandals? Can't the KACC come after Marshalls if the guy is found guilty?? Stay Away.

Funky I can tell that you are young, impetous and also new to the market by your posts.

Listen to Sober and the Deal. These guys are tried and tested on Wazua.

I have done my research and found that Marshall's is running like a family grocery shop. The company is laden with old Wahindis, brought from India to monitor the indigenous workers and make sure that they do not steal. The geezers do not add any value to the company and treat it as a retirement resort. The best employees have since defected to Foton and Eurysia. The new CEO may be an expert at selling luxury cars but is that the skillset required to sell the kawaida car? Never forget this last bit of advice:Kamlesh Pattni has never run a profitable business. In fact, it is doubtful whether Kamlesh Pattni has ever had a business that sold anything. Dont burn your fingers!

My fellow Kenyans, are we not perpetuating impunity when we invest in companies owned by unsavoury characters whose involvement in grand corruption is a matter of public knowledge? What does that say about our own ethical standards? These are the same characters who have impoverished this country through theft of public finds and you as the younger generation will be paying for it for the rest of your lives. Just a thought...

Touche'

I know that some Wazuans specialise on distressed stocks and that some are contrarian investors.

Marshalls is a special case that I would not advise anyone to invest in. But one man's meat is another man's poison so I will wish you all the best.

pattni is a crook but Marshalls [if it is not stripped of assets] has some great assets. Look at the prime piece on Koinange Street. Worth many millions!

Or the land in Changamwe but again invest with caution. Not for the faint-hearted. It is quite illiquid as well.

Marshalls let go of Peugeot about 2 years ago coz the cars were pricey [when Euro had jumped to 1.6 to US$] & could not compete with the Japanese & Koreans.

Marshalls has Kia (not Hyundai), Tata (as a distributor) & Foton (Chinese)

@ Vituvingisana- Foton is really doing well. I can see many Foton trucks on the road. If i am not wrong they are not the ones who let go off the frnachise,it is Peugeot themselves who decided to terminate the contract since they were not selling enough.

Oops! Maybe I made a mistake about Foton. I need to check who has Foton's franchise.

I know Marshalls signed an agreement with a chinese firm to be the distributor. No idea where they are headed.

Like I said, you need a thick skin to invest in Marshalls!
