Actually this rally makes alot of sense. This company has had great fundamentals but the share price had stagnate for over 1 year even with the great fundamentals. 2 weeks ago the fundamentals became even better, such that it was too much to ignore, no matter the state the n.s.e is in. Another point to note is how the rally has occurred. It has been slow and gradual gaining 1 % daily at most 1.5. Friday was the highest gain of 3.04 percent since the rally started. A share with many speculators would rally over a shorter time and gaining 10 percent a day, like uchumi or eaagads did. And come down quickly.

The price stagnation for more than a year ensured that the bulk of the short term local speculators were caught unawares by the recent foreign investors inspired rally. The bulk of trades are attributable to foreign purchases, as much as 90% on some days.

Factoring in that the amount of free float of Kenol Kobil is about 30% of issued shares (about 450M Shares), if the foreign investors continue mopping up this float at the rate they are doing it, we may see a Ksh 15 trade before the end of this year and Ksh 13 before half year results release.

Remember Kestrel Capital had valued the share at Ksh 17 level last year (much earlier before the >50% half year projections announcement).......

Happy hunting

Kestrel=Charles Field Marsham=Biwott's Son-in-Law=Kenol Kobil. Stockbrokers &/or 'Analysts ' are most of the times interest parties. KK's fundamentals are good but with the week shilling & Europe's & USA's financial woes which will have/or is having an effect on international comodity prices oil inclusive, i don't see KK's 2nd half being all that rosy. So according to me 12 was the best price to get out.

Profits up 50% for 1H [& probably a decent performance in 2H] & some guys worried about a 9% dilution over 3 years?

I expect a good performance in 2012 + even 2013. I am sure Segman wants to maximize value when the Options come due in 2014!

KK is and will continue to do well. With KPLC now rationing power particularly to industries, they will have no choice than to increase their fuel uptake. This is good for KK and other OMCs. That said, I do not really expect a dividend and thus chances are that price will fall.

Even with a dividend, there is a very high possibility of others selling the news. A good deal of the money in the market is very scared.

Plenty of sellers waiting in the wings. But a price crash on this one after results are released might be a nice gift for one to award himself.

They are paying an interim dividend of 57 cents.

There are two scenarios that might explain this kenolkobil share price rally.
Either there's an INTERIM DIVIDEND comming with the results or speculators are at it again.playin the stock to their advantage - and it has very disastrous ending....

On 27th we shall know.

If u read Segman's statement on interim dividend's in H1 2010 report... l think the prospects of an IDs isn't far-fetched!!!

And so this too come to pass... an ID of Ksh 0.57 coming up..

@MT, That would indeed be a gift. Doubt whether guys will be that generous any more now.
