Q1 2011 = 87% PBT
H1 2011 = 52% PBT

That means Q2 2011 growth = 17% - That's a major shrink... This stock will slide below 20/- in coming weeks.

Why don't we have shorting on NSE... Fantasy market should introduce it...

Sasa hi ni hesabu ya aina gani?

What is 87% of what?

What is 52% of what?

And how do these numbers become 17%?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

This death defying Equity, you have to take your hat off - seriously!

After years of scepticism, I'm poised on the platform to take a deep dive. I've begun by searching blogs and I see all sorts of spurious claims about ownership.

With best intentions I ask, was all that hullabaloo about who owns Helios EB Investors resolved, or is the dictum by one Amos Kimunya that owners be revealed 2016 still in force?

It's getting cold and I want to dive in. Any feedback, appreciated.... cheers!

@mukiha, I think the 87% is quarter on quarter growth (q1 2011 vs q1 2010) while the 52% is period on period growth (h1 2011 vs h1 2010).

Hisah, your comparatives are wrong. Q1 PAT grew by 87% while Q2 grew by 57% compared to the same periods last year. Qtr on Qtr, Equity has grown PAT by 3.45%. Forward PE is now at less than 9 @ price of 22.50.

Obviously, I would welcome a price of below 20 with open arms - heck, Equity Bank at a PE of les than 8. May my prayers be answered Pray

Equity bank Q1 PBT 2.9B
Q2 PBT 5.9B
The quarterly performance seems very good considering the challenges that faced Q2.We should expect excellent full year results based on that trend.

What you should be asking is can Equity produce the same stellar results if govt funds(women fund, youthfund, sme fund, subsidized loans) are cut from its balance sheet. The answer is yes since the bank can get cheap loans and grants from international organisations very easily.

I dont see what Raila can do to frustrate Equity without hurting several economic sectors worst case scenario is if he 'nationalises' it....which is kind of extreme.

An impressive 136% growth on foreign exchange income was realized in the period under review

Not a chance. After all, you and hisah have already "guided" us that we should buy at below 20. Tutaingoja hapo.

@136% foreign exch. Growth was due to monkey business of seeking and hiding dollars.

This share can reach even above 30/- levels in a bull market. But currently even if it reaches 25/- will be good.

Bw. Editor (what do you edit?), If you think Equity and Housing are so hot, just go ahead and buy them. You don't have to go thru an intermediary (Britak) and pay doubled'oh! d'oh! d'oh! .Brick wall .

Housing finance grew profits by 67% and Equity Bank has just announced growth of 52%. what do they have in common? British American owns a large stake in both. And by buying Britak shares, i buy into both. Iam going have to rebel on ur advice and buy those British American IPO. roho safi
