deal, do you still stick with your call for a 70% - 85% growth in PAT? That would be massive in this kind of environment, even by their standards... GOD BLESS YOUR LIFE

Time for the big boys to come out and play. Who will be more profitable come end year FY2011, between EQT and KCB. I think equity, no Kcb. i cant make up my mind.... The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

youcan'tstopusnow wrote:What are the odds of KCB pipping Equity in H1 2011 PBT? there's a chance though small. How much did the bralirwa ipo contribute to the bottom line for KCB. Equity has more agents than kcb and has more innovative and aggressive. I'm mentioning these assuming all other factors are constant. I am of the view that in the long run member will come out on top, but for this year. It will go down to the wire. The investor's chief problem - and even his worst enemy - is likely to be himself

The effectiveness of this agency banking stuff is yet to be seen in my books. I have alot of skeptism about the success of the whole idea altogether. Or I became elitist or something, I don't know.

How do you guys see Agency being worth the time & money for both our banks & the agents? Do we have any agents on Wazua who can share their experiences?

I don't expect it to have been super-profits but it is even more important for the EAC subsidiaries to atleast plug that FY2010 2B loss to KCB Group and KCB Kenya just making a modest extra 3B to make a PBT of 15B to make a PAT of 10.5 hence an eps of 3.5 and a dps of 1.75. That will be good enough for Cde Monomotapa.

anything less than seven billion H1 PBT for either firm and especially KCB would be disastrous! COOP 255,000 ABP 15.85; IMH 5,000 ABP 35.55; KQ 604,200 ABP 6.96; MTN 23,800 ABP 5.20

I have observed that KCB is good at QoQ growth. The momentum for 2010 Q1 started at 15% to close at 56%. This year Q1 has kicked off @33%. Ceteris Parabus we can close @100% especially now that all Subsidiaries are in the green..some spice should come in from T-Bill income, spike in fees & commissions due to increased business & forex income thanks to the high volatility. Downside includes one-off consolidation/rationalization costs (which should be lower than expansion costs anyway), increase in provisions for bad debts & increase in utility costs (elec)-misc. costs. Ok its now official that member will be the 1st to announce its earnings among the banking fraternity...which is a bullish thing to me...now lets wait for KCB to do 100%... well agency banking is not a non starter as most pple would put it...one thing I like about agency banking it helps in cutting costs of setting up a real branch, it helps i reducing lines at banking halls..it increases the level of penetration among the unbanked I.e people in rural areas
