What confidence does family bank have to give loans on this share?

I told you guys to count me out of this, I see fingers burning bigtime; let me sit on the fence. Meanwhile l am in for Bank de Kigali. Sometime next year guys, SONARWA (Societe Nouvelle d'Assurance du Rwanda), Rwanda's biggest insurer will be listing. Discussions ongoing after GOR directed the SONARWA board to pursue IPO. Application for approval expected by Nov 1. I cant quote the sources as there is no link. Just trust me folks.

With you on this. As people speculate with money they can afford to lose(I have none) Rwanda's market beckons...

They just need to grow the loan book. Interesting strategy??

I know u guys remember the greatest case study being that of Equity as the largest financier of S.com investors. That one-time-sunshine did wonders for the preceeding numbers! Another recent one is KCB Rwanda which made a fortune off Brailwa(sp) in Q1 2011. I expect them to cream alot more from Bank De Kigali for Q3 2011.

the banks seems to have confidence in the ability of guys to pay not on the shares,if only the shares were colateral we would all buy,if they go down we bolt they go up we sell, but banks are giving loans ,advising you may purchase shares, but equity is locking them (custodial)

Timing for this listing is not what i call perfect and that is why i am not dipping a dime here.
Considering what happened to TCL, i doubt if the reception will be any different. I will be watching on the sides.

Why would you say that? Are you more human or Kenyan than them or the currency you use is signed by Mr Gates? This must be the worst comments I've read in this forum. By the way those poor people you despise so much are the ones God loves the most.

I think they should give everyone a chance to invest. They should only limit when the IPO is likely to be oversubscribed but according to indicators such as the current food prices and general economic situation and the Safaricom IPO experience,I don't think that even half of the number of shares on offer will be bought!

These guys have done a good job on their advertising. But their admission of a dip in profits next time round is definitely a dampener

I am quite surprised by the level of pessimism about the British American IPO in this forum. I have looked at fundamentals. The company is in a growing industry(financial sector, that grew by 10% and is the largest contributor of economic growth, its balance sheet is very good and getting better, subsidiaries like British American Asset Managers are market leaders(17 billion in assets) and the opportunity in insurance is just strting to be exploited and thus there is room for growth. and they have appointed a new guy at Asset managers division. check http://britishamericanbl...billion-of-your-assets/

At Ksh9, this is the cheapest share in the sector and if precedence is anything to go by, can only go higher!

So, whats the beef with the offer?

I am sure you mean the lowest priced (in shilling terms). That is quite distinct from being cheap.
