This is definitely ridiculous what has that mama done for this country?

She has. Which other woman has married the president?

Wambui or mama ngina who was married to the first PM and President

Mama Ngina was married by the President, Mama Lucy MARRIED the president, don't all you get the drift??

so this means that by comparison mama lucy has more points than mama ngina?!

I would be more concerned if it didn't have a morgue. Any hospital worth it's name has to have one. Irrespective of the quality of care in any hospital, some patients will inevitably die. where are they to be preserved while their relatives are being notified?

@Sumuni,
You never know.Maybe some Wazuans have organised to by-pass morgue when they final depart.

After reading this posts i just realised how lucr*tive mortuary business is. Assume 5million deaths a year in kenya, we have less than 1000 units in kenya meaning an average of 5000 papp‘patients‘ each. I work with a small figure of 1000 meaning three guys daily, i am out of wazua to go start my dream business.

this is direct translation. In the english language, You ask the lady ' will you marry me?' Now try translating this in your first language.

@QW25071985; your ignorance is annoying! ALL District Hospital have a morgue! It is a standard requirement for a health facility of that category.

Nairobi has a very serious shortage of public hospitals, in fact it has the worst ratio in the country. The only other District Hospital is Mbagathi. For that reason, Nairobians always go to Kenyatta even for minor ailments, yet KNH is a Referral Hospital.

But about that name: I don't like the idea. I don't think it is wise to name a public institution after a living person.

If it is true that Lucy asked for the gift, then it would have been best to ask her to name it.... publicly. It would have been very embarrassing for her to stand up during the official opening and say something like "I, Mama Lucy Kibaki, hereby name this hospital after myself, that is, Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital".

Imagine that!
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

The word MARRY does not translate to "OA" in Kiswahili. It actually means "OLEWA".

So, when a man goes on one knee and asks a girl "Will you marry me"

What he means is "Utakubali nikuoe?";

But not "Utanioa?"
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

I saw it from the outside sometimes back and was wondering what that great building was. I commend the people who came up with the great idea of putting up this hospital in Eastlands, I believe the bigger part of Nairobi's population lives there.

BBI will solve it

I thought it is a public hospital.

You must not be sober... for Kenya to support your working assumptions, we would ALL die within 8yrs!!!

Kenya birth rate approx 3% - 4% so maybe 1.5m births.

Death rate is under 1% so max 400k pips die every year. One thousand per day.

Back to the drawing board, fanya hesabu tena! You must not count livestock eg broilers, and wild game eg. wildebeest.smile

AlthoughThink ... you can still get your 3 out of the 1,000 daily deaths. Maybe even 10!

Lucy is not getting any royalties for the name so who cares? I don't see any problem naming the hospital by anyone as long as it is providing service to the people.

I noted Wambui road, opposite Muthaiga Golf Club's main gate. But that is besides the main story. Mama Lucy has contributed significantly to the health services. Anyone remembers the show at PGH Nyeri a number of years back?
