HF is certainly moving in the right direction in so far as profitability is concerned. Note, it also has the lowest PBV ratio among the banks and now with a projected DPS for the full year of Kshs 1, even the yield is beginning to look respectable.

No need to worry about KCB results because a steller performance will not translate to appreciable share rise.

If it rises at all it will shed weight thereafter because of the mood of the market. The fear or better put the uncertainty of 2012.
Stocks are jost wobbling. Gain today, lose tomorrow.

With the cost cutting measures in KCB, investors have to wait till early 2013, as I see KCB in the 40s then circa 100% higher than the current value.
Afterall time or patience is hidden fundamentals in stock investment.
The best bet is to accumulate now or if it goes lower with 18 bob as a possible bottom price.

In any african market (except RSA) 18 months or a year prior to elections when the index is high

Either Sell Off to re-position after the election

OR

Prepare ahead to buy low some months to the elections when things are uncertain.

This is the best antinode for peace of mind.
In essence be prepared for the worse before general elections.

My choice as a long termer is always to accumulate more at a lower price. I am preparing towards that for Kenya bourse.

In Nigeria we say no shaking, I have experienced that several times in different markets (Ghana, Botswana. Nigeria). Money I injected in post election Ghana GCB (Ghana Commercial Bank) yielded 120% after a year. GCB is Ghana equivalent of Kenya's KCB.

It is just one of the young old tricks
as my tarket has always been to buy the selected blue chips towards the bottom for optimum returns.
I can still remember how I bought post 2008 Kenya election ARM at 60 Bob, KCB at 16.50 Bob, EABL at 119 bob etc etc.

That's very true. The peace of mind here comes from the company being in good health financially. If the market insists on rolling bank I'll be in it for the dividend yields. If I were to be gifted KCB all over again @16 but this time with a 1.75 dividend (got 1 bob the 1st time) i'll be more than glad. And aren't u sitting pretty on ARM @young... smile nice!

I sold off all my ARM in feb 2011 at 192 not because it is not a good stock but because it does not contriburte much to my dividend returns.
A return of 1.75 bob on 192 is too miserly. I went to pitch tent with BAMB at 170 cum 7 bob dividend.
I will see how BAMB plays out (dividend + growth) in the years ahead though I am more positively inclined to high dividend yielding stocks.

Post 2012 elections KCB has what it takes to explode. MD Martins have put his house in order.

Notorious Terry Davidson as MD did that before in 2005, that year KCB returned a PAT of 100% and the share price rose from 58 bob that I bought in 2004 to 132 bob in November 2005.

The bearish KCB of 20.75 we are talking about now is actually 207.50 because a couple of years back there was a 10:1 split (I think 2007).
That does not mean all my eggs are in KCB or banking sector. My stake in the banks in NSE is about 23 %. (KCB, BBK, Equity)

Hahaha...I see we got something in common concerning high yielding stocks smile i remember after my shopping trip to "Dubai" to buy Scangroup all the way down to 14 bob achieving an Av.26 bob. After the Ogilvy deal sold off in lots btwn 45-65 as the 70ct dividend became annoying!
