Of course, @GGK.

they are all manufactured to the same standards.

There is no scientific basis for the claims made by Bamburi... just like there is no scientific basis for the claims made about "V-Power" petroleum (is it still in the market and is anyone using it? I tried it and my car performed worse than with normal premium grade!)

@cassandra, the fundis will tell you that for plastering you use blue triangle. It leaves a "brighter" finish to which you could use less undercoat paint.
The only time you should be looking down on others is when you are helping them up.

Very clever markerting by bamburi. It is like saying that mumias sugar is better than sony sugar yet there is absolutely no difference apart from the packaging.

All cement is manufactured to the same standard. From my experience, the brightness of the finish comes from water. Far too many fundis just use any water to do plastering; when standards require that you use water free from impurities. That means the water you use for plastering should be as good as water certified for drinking. But when you use water in which impurities are (ie borehole water), then you end up getting a bad finish, which with time develops line of weakness which grow to cracks. Never ever overlook the quality of water used for plastering. I see fundis getting water from swamps, to go plaster with. wrong wrong wrong!

@All. Thanks for the insightful thoughts.

Now grappling with the number of workmen to engage so that the work is completed in a reasonably short time. For now I have a fundi @1K a day + 3 workmen @300 a day. Work starts this weekend.

Also bought ballast, sand, concrete blocks and had to take the fundi's word for the quantity in a 'Lorry'. Is there a standard 'Lorry' ama it depends on who's selling? Am learning quite a bit..
