Do they have an Operations manager? He or She should not be holding that job by now.
....above all, to stand.

Some two years ago or so, the same problem bedeviled Jkia quite abit.

The then MD was Muhoho. He was put under the microscope here.

Where is Njuki or who is the MD.

...and we are still talking of Vision 2030. This is the region hub for most airlines and yet we can have blackouts that last a whole day. Seriously! And talking of which, isnt it time we built a new airport off the ground? Its possible...

Simply firing the fellow would be too easy! If I were President, the fellow would be at Manyani awaiting treason charges...

Same would go for the fellows in charge of food security.

It is time people started taking their jobs seriously

A reliable source told me that the reason there was blackout 2 years ago is coz the military were offloading military hardware and did not want this to be captured by press people.
He said every time there is such offloading, power must be disconnected and the reason you will never hear the executive comment.

there is a millitary barrack sharing a fence with JKIA few metres from unit 1.

I too worry about this whole vision2030 thingy...it's one thing to build something and another to maintain it.

I'm afraid that even a new airport might not do the trick for Kenya. Our way of doing things is engrained to our culture, it will take some time to weed it out.

Munich airport is fairly old(at-least one terminal is)and it handles over 30Million passengers per year without such challenges, imagine the costs to KQ should the number of travelers increase.

By the way, Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport is routinely shut down everyday for one hour where all the critical systems are tested -to mitigate such risks and surprises as JKIA is experiencing.

Maybe be the backup system in JKIA had failed a long time ago but went unnoticed...

@Burning Spear, umejaribu. It is much simpler to offload such cargo in Nanyuki or Eastleigh.

Are there no other creative means or channels for achieving better or even higher secrecy? If your theory is true, this is too expensive in many aspects. If anything a blackout raises other risks e.g no surveillance, radars cannot detect a missile etc...

This is the sort of staff that makes M7 sneeringly cynical of Kenya as the region's economic powerhse... I strongly think he believe's we got there not by design but by... "kiflukes", & the references to reinforce them r numerous.

About vision 2030... hmmm... this is a undertaking which is more of an "illusion to be persued but never attained." Hatuwes mek pengine wa-extend iyo period.

@ Bs, your source must have been really reliable. So much so that the military cd not use their own runways in Eastleigh, Nanyuki Wajir etc.
BTW did your source tell u why they dont switch off power at the port of mombasa while the same military offloads their wares?
