Of course the lower your rent the better for you; any day! As a rule however, if you are paying more than 20% of your net on rent, you are sacrificing your future. Once read this in some HABITAT journal that l cant trace immediately. Unfortunately, most of us contravene this ...... by varying degrees

Does this apply to 2-income household? i.e hus+wife...

Of course the 20pc is on total household income. One major factor is ignored though-transport. On a separate thread, someone wrote they spend 20k for transport and lunch! What if he could work within 100metres from home? He could make huge savings on transport and lunch

Though a valid point, remember, you can lose your job tomorrow or get transfered elsewhere.
i tend to look at proximity to work n the resulting reduction on transport as just a rider and not something that should overide the 20% rule!

@Impunity,

It was an ad I saw on Dealfish, I called the number on that ad- 0715601731 and we scheduled a "viewing" but something came up so I never went, maybe you can try your luck.

I think its on household income. Husband, wife, business income, all of it.
The laudable is more often than not rendered laughable by overclaim
