@Lolest, you must practice alot on your own. Listen to audio tapes, subscribe to websites with french stuff such as about.com. Think of a simple sentence in english and use altavista babel fish to translate etc... Practice, practice, practice.

I would still recommend Alliance.
Lord, thank you!

Wazuans, i studied french in high school n did my KCSE 12 years ago. I even obtained a B+ in it, yet i have never used it since the French Paper 2 exam. FYI, am not sure whether i can understand it well now!

Somethings we learnt in school are surely useless (maybe for now), coz now am learning Borana, Rendille and Samburu Languages!

@sparkly, Lolest!

Classes are all well and good. But sometimes the structure drains all the joy out of learning a language.

I highly recommend you consider Rosetta Stone.
Ref http://www.rosettastone.com/learn-french

It's a language software that teaches through immersion (e.g. the process through which you learnt your first language)

It's simply F.A.T.A.S.T.I.C. My sister is using it to learn Japanese! And apparently, it's what NASA uses when they need to a group of astronauts from different nationalities to be able to communicate. Crash courses in Russian for the Americans and English for the Russians. smile

The price of a package adds up to the same as 2 levels at alliance. Much cheaper when you get all the levels in one.

Je vous souhaite tous un bon continuation!

sparkly. Both options are workable. You can either decide to pay and access the materials via their site OR you can pay for the actual CD ROM and install on your comp.

There are no certificates that i know of.

If you were looking for certification, i guess Alliance is the way to go. However, if you wanna learn the language...Rossetta Stone works superbly. My two cents worth?...it's a language, at the end of the day, you either know it or you don't - paperwork or not.

All the best.

Thanks for your inquiries. My name is André and I'm the Director of Bonjour Institute, Uniafric House, Koinange Street, 2nd Floor Suite 260, the institution that was mentioned earlier. Other than the fact that French is spoken in 54 countries (and is the official language in 40 of them), I'm sure you have your reasons for learning French as opposed to Chinese or any other language smile.
For those who feel that their progress is too slow, we are happy to inform you that we insist on spoken French as papers mean nothing if you can't communicate orally.
We are located in the City Center for your convenience, our last class of the day ends at 7:30pm, and we have a perfect, homely ambiance complete with satellite French TV channels. Our classes are very personalized to make sure you aren't just one person in a crowd. We have an ongoing intake and we are about Kes. 7,000 cheaper than our Competitor PER LEVEL.
Kindly feel free to contact us on info@bonjournairobi.com or 0733589203 for any supplementary details.
Merci.
