They work extremely hard and beat man u to purportedly save their season.........then they lose to Fulham,a lacklustre performance....what is ailing this team??

as a liverpool fan lemmi explain what exactly happened. there was a lot of pressure both from the premier league and the champion's league match,to cap it all gerrard was absent and toress was unfit.

A likely impossibility is always preferable to an unconvincing posibility.

Benitez made a fool of himself by selling Xabi.......The midfield is dead.

@njunge. benitez made the right gamble, only that it back fired. had it worked we wouldn't be having this talk. i have one simple question, where was reds before alonso?

I didn't think a man could turn that red! Benitez looked like an over-ripe tomato.
Anyway let's await his firing on Thursday after they exit Champions league on Wednesday.

The problem could actually be Benitez........ if he could rally his troops to beat Man u,he should be able to motivate them enough to beat the likes of Fulham....
Then the Xabi Alonso factor is hard to water down....he was amongst the best Players last season..... And Mascherano also wanted out at some point.......though he remained at the end of the day....... terrible times...by the way am a gunner

All Gunners... Let's hope the Chelsea Man-u match on Sunday ends in a draw. That would be the best result.

Alonso was the guy who held Liverpool together last season. With Gerrard and Torres injured most chunks of last season,Alonso kept the team going. Win rate with Alonso is around 70%,without him as low as 40%. Most of the red cards against Liverpool oppenents last seasons were due to fouls on Alonso.

Now his true value is being discovered as Liverpool has been losing games even when Gerrard and Torres were playing.

Maybe Aquilani will prove to be a better player than Alonso but will he come in too late? Liverpool season looks dead and burried at the moment but all could change as there is a long way to go til end May
