The main story of the day was a shocking move by the CBK who today cut their overnight landing rate to 6.25% from 8%, the CBK is sending a lot of mixed messages into the market. The buzz word is inflation

I believe the CBK is finally actively engaged in liquidity management and by extension controlling demand driven (by money) inflation. CBK is in a position to manage this on a day to day basis as banks are mandated to file their positions daily with the CBK. This is a good move. Note that CBK is only in control of monetary policy and is not a farmer, oracle, oil-producer or rain-maker.

I love this Laughing out loudly

I think lovely was just saying that the downturn has truly began and preaching on what to buy or not to buy during this time has started. lovely, can you confirm this?

Today KCB and EQUITY are both trading at 23/-...buy EQUITY for short term capital gains.

@young - Actually, you can buy (as a foreigner) through a broker or a bank any of the Primary Issues of the Bonds on a non-competitive basis.

As a long-term investor, I love lower prices as long as the FUNDAMENTALS remain strong & Kenyans stick with non-violence! The risk is violence not the other stuff (though I would appreciate more rain!)

No thanks @VVS, in bond investment personal contact is a must, it is not ideal for a foreigner. Also think about the weak ksh.

It is advisable to stick to the highly capitalized old reliables. This is because if you miss the capital gains you will not miss the good dividend yield.

Pick within the NSE-20. Some of them includes:-

NMG
Safcom
KCB
BBK
SCB
JUB
EABL
KPLC

Take your time to arrive at the best bargain price because the trend of things in terms of NSE 20 shares index will be looking down or remain flat (to early 2011 level) in the near term (Up to 2012 elections)

Happy investing.

Not to pour cold water on @Mzee young's list...there is only one stock I would pick from the list above.
