I've been with Dyer and Blair for the last five, but i didn't know they have such arrogant and rude staff,s yesterday i went to pick my Safaricom refund cheque, and after queeing for two hours i was met with a rude shock,i went to the counter where i was told to give original I.D unfortunately i didn't' have it but atleast i had Original Driving License and Copy of my I.D,which i thought would of help, but i was told thy can't give the cheque till I surrender Original I.D,after a long argument i asked one of the staff whether i can talk to one of the supervisors, who to my surprise was full of hatred and arrogant,he coudn't even listen he didn't have time for a poor mama like me,,he just uttered 'mama came kesho with original I.D quee again for two hours or forget the cheque'' that was his final word and he left !!! I almost broke down, and left me wondering is this how dyer and blair treat the poor people ?????? or is Dyer meant for Big Fish only????

I had a similar bad experience at DSL where I was forced to bring passport photos and Id cards. We should learn next IPO we should just use the banks. They dont have that stupidity that will enable them have your money for as long as posibly just to reinvest it.

Imagine being asked for passport photos to get my refund cheque.

NIC,Equity and any other banks here we come.

Customer service is no longer existing, especially with the brokerage firms...My advice is tread carefully, and dont feel like u have to be tied up in an unhappy atmosphere

I have been with D & B for some time now. We have an investment group going back to the late 90's and we jus had to drop D & B as our broker due to poor customer service. I also have an individual account with them and I am having problems with them especially since safaricom......they do not reply to emails or execute orders in time..he only reason I am still with them is because they have online access to my account. When more brokers have this feature I will be out yesterday... any body knows any broker with online account access and the ability to place orders ..post it here and I am out!!!!

DYER & BLAIR HAVE BEEN GOOD UNTIL SAFARICOM CAME. I think the commission they have earned from the gvt on this safcom issue it too much for them to struggle issuing refund chqs. IN any case,we were all forced to give our bank account details in the IPO forms, why then did they decide to send chqs to brokers? Brokers are not our bank accounts. It was dyer & blair who was the lead consultant and after they mislead us to give bank details, only rich investors had their banks A/Cs EFTd with refund, all the rest are told to go queue at brokers offices to get their refund chqs. What was the need for the bak details then????????

I have been writing emails to DnB since wednesday but not even one has been replied and they never pick fone calls??????? What is suddently wrong with this broker??

The future is already here!

@bonnyboy....

Try African Alliance Kenya...they are located in upperhilll.

Am also not impressed by d&b...and thats why am moving to African Alliance after being adviced by a friend who has an account with them

All the best as we all move..

Am also in D n B because of their online client access. Otherwise i envy some of my friends who are with CFC (for example) and they boast of personalised attention whenever they visit their brokers.

Actually I had a nasty experience with them D & B,they sold my share but I went through hell before I could get the cheque. I rated their customer service as (very poor). My friends claim they have been getting good services with Suntra.

People,

Kenyans have an issue with following the rules and procedures we are clearly told to do one thing, given the requirements and what do we do intepret it the way we want....it like last weekend at Hilton during the Exam some dude shows up with a police abstract and an NHIF card expecting the Proctors of the CFA exam to skia his story i mean it does not happen that way.

@Shikks i feel for you but am sure when you were queuing for those 2 hours you must have known what they require from you for you to collect your cheque,in this day and age the in kenya a DL is only for the traffic police....

I dont blame those guys and just for the record i don't trade with them or have any associations with them except for the Stanbic Uganda they bought me back in '06

Try Dyer and Blair Mombasa branch!!! They dont pick up the phones, and when you get to their office to ask why that is happening, they bluntly tell you they are too busy and no one at the front desk. I am moving my stock to CFC!!!!!!! too much stress @ DB

That's the character of D & B staff. Went there for transfers and was shocked by the poor PR from the staff. Thought maybe coz it was slightly after lunch maybe they had not eaten and also the long que so decided to go the following morning only to find the same thing. Went back with my forms and am now with cfc. Jipange and move on to another ...

@ Contrarian:

You may have a point about Kenyans going round the rules, but a customer remains a customer and there are better ways of dealing with a complaint than telling customers to get lost and come back with proper ID then line up for again for two hours hours.

You may overlook the customer but one mistreated customer may infect at least 5 more translate this to the number of people who actually hold on to their stocks and trade in this country and I guess you know the answer.

Public relations is important no matter how much money you may have seasonally made as D&B or even as a juakali artisan.

I feel your experience but one thing those young boys and girls of DB should know is that they are who they are today because of that commission the useless man and woman have paid.

We may be millionaires in our companies but that does not warrant somebody to be arrogant to the other even if status is different.

Most kenyans have this weakness especially when they fall in money they have never seen in lifetime. They almost feel that God was wrong to create poor men and women.

Young men and women stsff in DB,be careful coz you are just particles in the eyes of God and arrogance is the ticket to your oblivion.

I opened an account with them just before the safcom IPO but the gruff manner in which I was treated by their staff EVEN THEN convinced me to use an alternative broker for the IPO.

D&B has absolutely no right to treat their customers they way they are doing. If we are to talk about Kenyans not following the rules, what about all the people who specified that EFTs be effected for their refunds and instead D&B decided that they know best and did not bother forwarding their customer's bank details.

We should not take this crap from any of the brokers. If they thought that by not forwarding the bank account details that they would convince us to reinvest using them, they had better forget it. If anyone has been treated this way by ANY broker, insist on getting your cheque and then move as soon as possible.

@ Mozenrat

A quick one how does the broker change the details on the form so that you get a cheque and not an EFT,i know for a fact certain commercial banks are holding client EFT refunds and not crediting them in to client accounts....i know we all hate D&B and they do but i don't think JM could have been interested in changing client details especially when he was Transaction Advisor as working with Morgan Stanley.....

@ surambili

just tried those numbers then tried the nbi office was told those are not their numbers ati those are their agents called msa stocks...was told to try 041 2319 040

I urge sk to keep this post going,i am away on a short trip and I called dyer and blair yesterday to confirm an order and enquire about my refund and the girl was so..o.o... rude, and then she disconnected the call,I called right back, and it appeared that either she unplugged the phone,or did something to it coz it stopped going through. This is gross customer service ! it 's our money am trying to safeguard not asking for a loan . For me,the BARBS go to D& B Staff and the BOUQUETS goes to Ashbu.
