The lady counted her chickens too soon. Such are the things one says after 40 years or so. I fear for that marriage now.

Nevertheless, i agree with Obis's comments above. the guy needs to get off his butt! However, this story is incomplete since the wife doesn't say what the guy is doing about his joblessness.

Still; the "current generation" needs to hear these kinds of stories so that they stop giving up on the marriages because of lack of material things. Hopefully, their marriages will have a better chance of survival.
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

This is my casual "arm-chair" observation... nearly all the married women I know have been cheated on by their husbands and have never left them... Most of the breakups I have witnessed were a result of financial issues... (even where infidelity was a factor, the woman was usually angry that the dude was spending most of his money on a third party otherwise things would have been fine).

@ Mozenrat is correct. I agree with what you have just said. ALMOST all the women in my workplace have had a sob story on infedelity but after all the tears, threats, anger et al, they still remain put....

"Being loved" is not a blissful place to be for a MAN.

What if the wife or child falls sick? Or the rent is doubled?

What if the wife kicks him out? Will he go and beg in the streets?

That guy should sit down one day and really THINK about his next move, and then the next morning he should get out and do it.

That woman is not his mother... that baby is not his room mate!

That woman is good. But one day she may kick him out, that the child may not sleep hungry. I wouldn't blame her.
