@Selah

Its frustrations from the citizenry. Tell me, court cases take how long? First you will be frustrated by the cops, then you have to attend court appearences as a witness, if at all the cops wont have released the guy. Perhaps urgent action is done to reform the police and the judiciary.

There is a time in Uganda when if you were cought stealing, the military would take you to some isolated place, ask you not to steal again. A few meters upon release you would be shot dead. No court cases, no accomplices threatening witnesses.

True Story.

A grandfather takes this kid out on a walk. Midway, the kid gets jittery and begins to cry. As the mzee is talking to the kid, a mama stops and starts a story which then draws a crowd. This is Mbagathi way. The crowd then imagines that the kid has been kidnapped and they decide ( thank God) to take the two to Industrial Area Poice station. On the way, the crowd get abit rowdy and even hijack a Police Rider, who is passing by,to give them escort. The cop obliges and switches on his Siren. At the police station, the kid's parents come and are glad to find the two alive.

@Jason, the main reason guys do mete out justice is basically because there is a serious failure of the prosecution system. Many times, you will hear guys argue that they arrest these crooks, hand them over to the authorities only for them to spot them in the village in the afternoon. Woe unto those who had 'arrested' them. At times, these crooks will be in cahoots with the local sherrif. So what other option do you have? Our Police system is extrememly wanting in some areas and that failure is the cause of all this madness.

No I do not think it is Self Hatred! No.

What had the man done to deserve this? Stolen a sack of potatoes! This is revolting and inhuman. Some Kenyans have no mercy. Sad

@jguru,some thieves work on mama watoto + daughter, and others go to the extent of opening the man's boot....tafakari hayo

This is one of the things i fear most.... I need to get off this thread.. onto more pleasant things now!

Afew months ago I saw a clip on KBC,My cousin was beaten up and lynched ....at first I was in shock and angry at what that mob did to him,but after I was told the real story behind his death...Well lets just say I was a little bit comforted.

He was a serial mugger who had been warned severally,on the night of his lynching he took a knife and was about to slice a guy just for the phone, the guy raised an alarm....in a few minute he was burnt beyond recognition...on Tv I only saw his shoes with a burnt out tyre covering his torso.
