I have already decided to buy a Mazda Axela, what I really want to know is what kinds of experiences guys have had with it.

Hey @NearSaneIntelligentSaint, I assume you've acquired this thing. How has the experience been so far? Methinks it's a cool car too. How much did it cost? How much does it consume? Where do you service it? Are parts easily available? How is it like to drive? That sort of thing...

And for those folks already driving (or have driven) Mazdas, how are they in general?

Demios I see are popular. A friend has one and says it's a pretty good car. Don't know about parts though.

I've been with a Mazda since 2002... a Familia.

Handling - excellent; almost feel feels as if it is glued to the road.

Performance - a bit sluggish on take-off but sustains motion quite well; auto gear shifting is also a bit late so it needs some nudging...if you know how to force the auto transmission to shift earlier

Consumption - Town driving 8kpl; highway 12kpl... not bad for a 1998 car, is it?

Servicing - no problems with usual filters, plugs etc.

Spares - which spares? I've only changed the timing belt (from CMC, of course) and a water pipe [that was cut by a silly mechanic!]... but now I need rear shocks and so far I can't find them; though the guys at Auto Express said they will get some this month..... I should give them a call

Nice review for a 1998, I agree. If and when I do get myself one I want it to be a manual Mazda3 (Axela). I like its looks and I have seen mostly positive reviews of it.

the figures seem accurate, you could download the spreadsheets from kra's website and do the calculations - the dutycalc guys have just automated that part.

A good car. I've driven a Mazda 6 but not for long because I got a sweet deal on a passat and traded it in, but I loved the few moments I shared with it. I love the Axela (or Mazda3) looks and sportiness. A friend of mine had the older Mazda familia and it was good. I would take it anytime over NZE. I have seen a couple of them on the road so it is a growing brand

A few years ago Ford had controlling interests in Mazda, don't know if they still do. What i know for a fact is some Ford parts are compatible with some Mazda models to date.
