When i first read xtina's post the part of 'we let him just pass on'... i had similar sentiments... not towards her because i know at her position,she wouldnt really do much if a doctor is not doing anything about the situation anyway,then someone mentioned she works at KNH and reality hit home.

I have been lucky to interact with KNH on two occassions when emergency was needed. 1st,it was on a sunday going to church and we just witnessed an accident. it was bad. and as usual the kirindi gathered,everyone wanted to 'see' who it was... even those driving parked and joined the kirindi. I was going to drive on but then something told me to stop. In the car,was a man in his 50s,bleeding and struggling to come out of the volvo that was in a write off status. One of the men who had parked and my bro pushed through the crowd and started struggling with the door,thats when the others joined to help... the guy who was driving had said he will take him to hosi. when he came out,he was all bloody and its a sight that would scare you - the sight made me numb. all over sudden,people started dissapearing,even those with cars and even the man who had helped him out. My bro was left holding him. So we got him in my car and he told us to take him to KNH because the wife was a nurse there and he was a Dr at KNH. He couldnt even remember his wife's number coz of the shock i gues. So we took him,and guess what? The nurses were just staring at him like he had come for a visit.... the adamantly refused to attend to him ati he had to pay how much and non was even helping to call his wife even when he gave them her name! He didnt have money,no wallet,nothing - just the bloody self. I dint have enough cash on me so i asked them if i can pay what i had as deposit so they can attend to him and guess what one nurse there asked me 'who is he to you?' (with that knowing look!)... and i gave her my piece of mind... which wasnt very sweet. I was going to go withdraw some money when one other nurse came in and she said she knew the wife. I gave her my phone to call her and thats the only time they agreed to assist him. infact it is this 'new' nurse who attended to him may be she had a kind heart or may be it was by virtue of being his wife's friend,i dont know.

The other one,loooooooong story but let me just say,the young man ended up in spinal injury and it was because of negligence - pure and simple. how do you keep an accident victim on a cold hard metal trolley from 10pm to 5pm simply because two wards couldnt decided which ward he should be admitted in?

So dont blame xtina,blame the system! its just a whole rotten system - for lack of a worse word! @xtina, i really hope they wont change your heart to be as heartless as some of those nurses and doctors in that place are. and now dont mix those heartless fellas with a malicious kenyan cop - pure devil reincarnate!

@Jay R - when you say 'born homosexuals' do you mean they are delivered when they are mounted on each other....or do they immediately attempt to have their way with the same sex....people (both male and female),become SEXUAL beings when puberty sets in - until that point,they just have organs and no sexual emotions behind such organs. IMHO. For what its worth,I think such orientation (rather disorientation) 'occurs' after puberty...I maintain when kids are born,right up to when they are say 6-7 years,they are 'sexless' in that sense. of course boys like girls and girls like boys - but its more of a doting like a dog would love its master...

@Mpenzi,Mumbi and others…Next time you see a HUGE angry mob that wants to lynch someone,try stopping them then come tell me how that went ….. We were 6 medical staff against a mob of 50 people plus..... The cops were few,overwhelmed and justified their indifference by saying that ‘homosexuality is illegal in Kenya’….. They brought him,yes,but did not let us take him inside the hospital….. By the time we took him he was worse and passed on…he did not die coz of negligence on our side,rather it was because the mob prevented us from helping him until it was too late; there was nothing meaningful we could have done at that point ….

@ Djinn..Actually,up to now,it is still not clear how he got injured…It’s very difficult to extricate valid information from a mob as everyone had a different story as to what went down; all we know is that he was badly injured when he came.
@ Mumbi and Mpenzi…now that you have read the circumstances of the incidence,take back your comments.

@Smano,thank you too….You cannot stop a mob. Even during the post election violence,the same thing happened. Vigilantes would hack someone,and then threaten or block us if we tried to attend to the victim. I lost count of how many people I watched die during that period. Not because there was nothing I could do,but because I was prevented from doing my job.

@All…..Death is a process,not an event. There are signs a dying man shows. Neither mere mortals nor machines can stop it. In such cases you let the person go in peace. Don’t believe ER and Grey’s Anatomy…..they’re glossed-over versions of what really happens in a hospital…

The point of sharing this incidence was to highlight the level of intolerance of gays here in Kenya……
Like I said,we don't have to like them,just put up….Isn't judging a person by their sexual orientation the same as tribalism and racism?

@djinn. What i meant by 'born homosexuals' is,they didn't choose to go left instead of right.They found themselves on the 'left side' or sexual orientation.

It's innate.They can't change.

I disagree with your insinuation,we don't choose our sexual orientation on reaching puberty.Everything happens from within.That's the general rule,which of coz will have its exceptions.
We are not 'taught' which side to lean towards,we were just wired to. The first time a boy sees some puny boobs,no one tells them to get excited,they just get.And the same holds for the gals.
In that mix,[but very few] you find the natural homosexuals.

Innately orientated.

Telling people with inborn homosexuality to get straight is like telling or question why a person is black and not white.

Call it ERROR OF ORIGINAL ENTRY and let it be.
