I heard some info that there is an upcoming CRDB Bank IPO in TZ. I am told that the bank is possibly about the size of KCB. Anyone with details?

I know the Bank very well. Please dont waste your cash.

Technology has not reached there yet.Statements are sent after 3 months & the type of paper used?? Oh my my!! you know the one that used to wrap meat in the 90's.I mean the papers with green strips.

E-Banking is a vocaburary to them. They should first embrase the current technology before going public!!! CMA of Tz should not allow them!!

@Pablo. we understood your question and guys are doing research, but in the meantime you are getting 'other relevant details' which you should also appreciate. Otherwise if you have specific answers you are expecting just put the multiple choices and we will tick the correct answer.

By the way,i don't think there is a bank in TZ that is the size of KCB. The biggest can only be compared to Ukulima sacco.

Pablo, some speak out of ignorance. Financial statements (http://www.crdbbank.com/finInfo_bs.asp) Website (http://www.crdbbank.com) Some news on CNBC (http://www.cnbcafrica.com/businessnews/cnbc_news/966430.htm)

The problem with equality is that we desire that it be with those that have more than us rather that those that have less

Thanks Djinn.

This banks balance sheet is actually 50% larger than that of EB at equivalent of Kshs. 130B. It is also very thinly capitalised at only Kshs 2B. Maybe its this is a gold mine. From the link that Djinn and this other one http://www.crdbbank.com/news_details.asp?nid=100 it seems like the NAV could be Kshs 65/- (130B worth and 2.1B shares).

If this share is being sold at about 15 Kshs Shs then it could be at a significant discount. The EPS is Ksh Shs 2. Its PE being 7.5 is not bad at all.

Abramovich and other billionaires from russia made their fortunes by investing in profitable companies that the government was disposing off. My sources tell me that they dont expect the IPO to be oversubscribed but this a good medium - long term buy.

It seems that they had a rights issue which closed in Feb.2009 involving only 197,866,560 new shares which had a 20% discount. Then list the bank in DSE by june 2009,IPO will only be for the rights not taken if any.

They are hoping to raise Tshs.23.7 billion, equivalent of kshs.1.2 billion. For sure kenyan will not be involved, but for pablo who could be in TZ you could participate hoping the price will adjust for the discount offered.

Anyone with details how an optimist in Kenya can apply for that IPO?

Quiting is NOT an option!
