Lionel Messi-led tournament favorites and hosts Argentina were held to a 1-1 draw by Bolivia, as Kun Aguero's goal prevented an upset.

Brazil open up tommorow vs venezuela gunning for a 3rd consecutive final.Argentina are hosts but somehow don't see them going all the way though they will make it through the group stage. The only challenge from their group seems to be Colombia who hosted and won way back in 2001.

Mexico only appear as invited guest. They just won their version that is CONCACAF cup.
The are not in South America.

................The point am trying to make is that the mercurial Chicharito is NOT in the Mexican squad which is playing in COPA AMERICA......So for me there is no copa america!

If the timings are anything to go by, many of us will only watch a few matches broadcasted live come Brazil 2014 WC.

@mwenza, I think Mexico sent their youth team to represent them as the national team was involved in its own continental conquest.

.....WC will be a different kettle of fish. The organizers will be forced by FIFA to play the matches targeting European audience.

Remember world cup matches in Mexico where akina maradona were complaining that they were being forced to play matches at ungodly hours so as to suit the european audience? The one who pays the piper calls the tune.

True. Their squad is largely U22.

True. FIFA is all about the benjamins. Football comes a distant second. The World cup is their biggest cash cow and sponsors have to be made happy.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.
