You can keep a few if you are a collector but why would you need 100 coins from 1972 for example?

Can you imagine what they'd be worth now.

Psssst: i'm NOT hoarding

I am not talking about the ones with 'holes' - the kind you can sell. I am talking about the normal coins - legal tender. That is what C.B.K. is interested in. The rest you can keep [or sell] - no problem.
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

@Maich, what is the worst that can happen if someone does not return his/her coins?

C.B.K. will spend a cool 2 billion to produce others. Until most of us can lay their hands on the coins, put them in a debe and then C.B.K. can use yet another 2 billion to repeat the process. I know a number of better uses we - as a country - can put the money into! Tafakari hayo.

I am speculating with the coins! The good ol' Prof is asking for the coins coz he knows that with the current inflation levels, we will not be needing =/50,1/=,5/= and 10/= in the very near future. So the vallue of the coins will hike and I will be rich!!!!

This makes me tell my daughter to count, zimefika ngapi ka-mum?, I think i have at least 3-5k in a 1kg milk powder can in Nai.

@Maich, coins include 50cts, 1bobs, 5bobs, 10bobs, 20bobs and 40bobs? The 40bobs siwezi rudisha, i cannot allow those ugly coins to go back to circulation again. I have lost alot by giving them out thinking they are 20bobs and walking away without expecting change!

Hey, who have seen the 5,000bob coin, i've never seen though it came out in 2003, if you have it, i can exchange all my daughter's coins (except KI-LUCY) to that one!
