To be frank 20 K. is peanuts in startup biz, id rather you treat this as savings continue growing till its a sizeable capital or team up with other 5-10 more people with the same contib. and start something collectively. From experience start ups are risky and require more than the the minimum start up capital to shield it through unforseen eventualities.

20k is alot of money as said in the above post,{20k is a lot of cash to start, it's the idea and attitude not the capital that matters. } Just as 200k or 2M shillings is pocket change to some fellows.

Just think of it the ladies selling groceries at the way side; how much was the initial capital?

In Nairobi, there are different classes of people and all try to live decently.
Take a look at your office; the director; the manager; the Officer;the driver; the tea girl;the cleaner ;the watchman all earn different salaries and they all have families and all live in the same city.

point is 20k is lifetime savings to some people as it is a breakfast bill to others

Much apologies, i must have sounded arrogant.d'oh! Well, I appreciate the fact that we cannot be all equal in life, thats a reality. Anyway, that said I still uphold that serious start ups are tricky and you certainly wouldnt like capital to be an hindrance. To overcome this problem, its is better to 'pull together' as I pointed out, with a few colleages and atleast build a good capital.
