..Saw a restriction on the number of sugar packets one can buy from uchumi could there be a sugar shortage looming as well.
The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts while the stupid ones are full of confidence

Good for Mumias who can then sell all they have in stock! In 2009/10 they complained of unsold stocks, well not they should send it all to Uchumi or Nakumatt!!!
Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett

smile EPS 1.23 and a dividend of 50cents.This will be a turning point for mumias and will start moving to its original prices of 13-15 Kes. Remember they are generating electricity and price of sugar is high. Ethanol and water effects will guide investors in 2012 where it will most like pay an interim of 30cents.

Holding 34,300 - average 7.30 and tempted to continue buying.
NOT so sure about:
1. The land issue with busia farmers
2. The effect of the increase in cane prices on MSC's bottom line (short term)
3. The govt's seriousness in making the sector competitive enough to lift the protection the industry enjoys and allow in COMESA sugar.

Happy about the attempts at diversification.

i'm beginning to doubt the CEO of this company, he said results will be out by end July or Early August..the results are no way to be seen...you can't serve two masters at the same time...he should quit and focus on politics.Sad

This Stock is a BIG RISK people, once the comesa sugar gets in next year this stock will be junck. However if they were to get serious in their power generation and maybe, be a 1/4 of what Kengen is maybe I would think about it. Also in 2009 when Sugar was booming this stock was trading at Kshs 4 at Kshs 6 is like buying a Toyo Vitz at Kshs 2Mill.
