I am giving MSC a CAUTIOUS thumbs up at the current price range of 7.00 - 7.20. If we are to believe Mgt, they will have produced about 137K MT of sugar in H2 2011 which will be more than the production of about 119K MT in H2 2010 - a near 15% increase. This should translate into some nice profitability numbers for H2, "ceteris paribus" given that in 2010 most of the damage was in the 2nd half of the year. I am assuming that sales were in tandem with production.
It is worth noting that Full Year production at 250 MT of sugar is only 6.03% higher than last year's production. So we have to trust that the price and margins were substantially higher than that.
As far as share price is concerned, one can never tell. However, MSC has been fairly stubborn in resisting going below Kshs 7 for a long while, so it may be due for a nice bounce.
Cautionary note: With MSC, I would expect a selloff for small timers to try their luck with BA, such has been the nature of the share.
