I just passed by Nairobi University Parklands Campus and I was shocked by what I saw. Four policemen DEAD asleep. Two inside a parked Securex car and two outside on dusty grass - using their G3s as the pillow - don't ask me how comfortable that is. There was nobody watching over them. I had to slow down just to be sure they were dead asleep as opposed to dead.

If a group of thugs drive by, they would disposses them off their guns with virtually no resistance. I also couldn't help but imagine if there was a commotion, tyre burst or one of them had a bad dream and they woke up firing. The fact that ALL of them were asleep - next to a busy road - also says alot. And these are the guys protecting us???
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

@MaichBlack
...You need to understand the background of the whole thing. They did not sleep at home. They share houses. How do you expect them to sleep when the cop next door is seriously banging his wife the whole night na yeye hana!
...My cousin based at Langata tells me that when he is not on a night shift he comes home past midnight so that he can find the family he is sharing a house with asleep.

@King and @kularaha - You will kindly have to pardon me. I have never seen such a spectacle. One policeman sleeping and I would have let it slide but four - at the same place!!! Eish! then to make matters worse, just next to a busy road. And for two of them, it is not an "accidental doze". They went all out - Jevanjee/Uhuru Park style. I'm still in shock.

@maich..in your next life you should become a kenya police cop..beat constable.. then you'll understand why they had to sleep.
Hope is not a strategy

Sleeping on the job is the order of the day,the consequences can however be serious for some jobs. If you sleep on the jobs on matters airport, then don't complain if mutiso lands his jet there!

@Sanity - I can imagine how tiring it can be carrying a G3 around but commonsense should be used. I used to go camping while in form 1 and 2 and even at that age we had the presence of mind to sleep in turns - the whole night. Groups of two each were allocated their watchman hours. Say you are in the 1:00am - 3:00am group, you are woken up by the previous group at 1:00am, you chapa your watchman duties mpaka 3:00 am then wake up the next group. If they must sleep - which I believe they should NOT - at least one or two should be awake just in case.
