Nonsense!

Sanction local banks for what? For selling dollars to offshore demand?

The shilling is liberalized, that means anyone anywhere can trade freely in it!

Its a case of the askari blaming the door after a robbery..."oh the door was open while I was asleep!"

This is bullshit...
CBK wishes to play the blame game and it is them who have failed to contol inflation.. Speculation is legal and they CANNOT touch these banks even if they tried

The stability & intergrity of the banking system of any country is key. U of all people should know that instead of being oblivious of what happened abroad due to gross de-regulation of the financial sector. nkt!

If we are going to embrace capitalism then we should take it all... i still would say CBK should have acted sooner rather than later...

--Lack of inflows--poor agriculture
--Low interest rates
--High inflation
--20% higher fuel bill per month paid in dollars

all contribute to a higher dollar...all this albeit the fact that the USD is at a low as compared to the EURO.

The good thing is it looks good for the shilling from here-on-end. Invest in KES!!

The last time I checked you cant repatriate more than $10k without notifying/being sanctioned by CBK.

How 3 banks Repatriated 22B without CBK taking corrective measure is quite an interesting turn of events.

Speculation can only be tackled if CBK calm the market by having concrete strategies of arresting the runaway inflation and Treasury showing its willingness to cut down govt waste that stifle economic growth.

Am afraid CBK might bite the hand that feeds it a retaliation from banks can be disastrous.

The $ 10K limit is only for individuals. For corporates as longa s you provide all the documents like IDF copy,Proforma Invoice you can transfer as much $$ you want.

As long as speculation is legal then CBK can dance around and expose whoever they want but in the end thats all they can do as even more speculation will continue to prevail if they dont sit and deal with the real issues...
