In the Hindu tradition its the bride's parents who pay the dowry. Brothers of the bride and the family often have to really save funds to marry off the girl. This airport would be very silent hoping the groom's family wont be too demanding. Wonder what masukuma and family would have managed to raise to marry off masukuma?

@bwenyenye, she doesnt till your land. In fact, you till her land by assisting her relas and becoming the philanthropic son to her parents at the expense of your folks. I would say she tills your land if she banks her salo into your accnt and follows your lead in matters money. Yet todays woman will pull in her own direction financially.

make it 2m!! I will escort you too.

...@Kingfisher and @Wanyuru
This is too low for @Leona... I make it 3M!!!

@leona, I'll match @magigi, na nitaweka E90 with "Take me home lights" kwa garage yako.

But seriously this gives those of us who are 45 and have a 45 inch waist (and some moolah in the bank) a chance with the younglings, yes?

Where are we going to? I have no hope for this generation!

Dowry is supposed to be a token of appreciation to the parents of the girl, it is meant to be bring together two unknown families and they be one. An occasion to celebrate the intended union of two people, and should not even be about money.

What is even more sad is when the girl is demanding it. She is supposed to be on the side of the hubby-to-be, teteaing him, not demanding from him. In fact, she should make it clear to the parents, that whether or not they agree on bride price, she will still get married to the guy, if she really loves him. Then the guy will come up with something good, because he knows her real worth is not in terms of money..

As for this young girl, she is seeing everything in terms of money which is just plain wrong. Wonder what would happen if the guy pays 1m, then the next day they dont have anything to eat because he had taken a loan to get the 1m. Atado? Hawezi toroka, she has been paid for..

Wacha azae watoi wawili, the relas will never accept her back even if you dont pay the damn dowry. Infact they will beg you to take her back. Rule of thumb: You negotiate when you have a competitive advantage

Kama ya huyu.

Wisdom to detect when share prices hit rock bottom.
When interest on bonds keep going up, you know the bear run is on high street. When interest on bonds start leveling, the bear has met the bull and they have hit rock bottom. When the interest rates on bonds start coming down, the bull has overpowered the bear and you better be riding the bull.
