Hi, guys. whats the typical rate for corporate to pay a medical rep who uses their personal car? per km? the guy is on a retainer but we want him to cover as wide are as possible but avoid false fuel claims?

Hi,

Put a car tracking devise. Then you can monitor where he goes, how many kilometers travelled and match this up with the cost of fuel. Good luck

@anika66, Such reimbursements are not just for fuel only. They need to include repairs, wear, tear, insurance, maintenance etc. It has always been a subject of debate, but the generally accepted rates are the ones issued by Automobile Association. Get in touch with them and they will give you the current table, generally the rates are differentiated by cubic capacity.

most companies have different rates for different positions. I have seen rates as high as 70 and as low as 30.

Its advisable to use AA a rates as pointed out by @GG. Be aware also that excessively high rates could be taken as an employment benefit (taxable salary)

AA of Kenya publish the rates. They are the best guide

we get paid depending on the cc of the car,, mine is 1830, which is paid for at the rate of 26 per km. I work for a private company.

you can only do that if it is a company car not a personal car!
